We too have this 2005 model and have to remove ice at the bottom each month....solution...buy a new freezer before we lose all contents.Looking at Amana...high ratings and few complaints
symptoms you are describing are faulty door seals, try putting a thin piece of paper between door and frame to make sure doors are sealing, also when did you do a full manual defrost??(once a year even with auto defrost)
check to make sure door seals are touching the frame all round, could be an air leak, also make sure there is no ice build up around the inside casing. if so fully defrost unit, clean all vents/drain pipe, then turn back on and leave it for 24hrs (freezers work beast when full).....and door shut..how many times have you closed door after them????
remove all food from fridge and take it outside. leave it outside until ice is melted. this is the procedure and i have to do it every day im a Refrigeration Mechanic.
