You have to be very careful because that metal screen is actually a choke for escaping microwave energy. Be sure to put everything back where it belongs including each and every screw
Probably the "oven temp/flame sensor" if you make microwave popcorn and the vents on the left hand side are restricted. Gets pretty hot. This part cannot be reset and has to be replaced.
Some burns are not cleanable. Use of soap and water is the safest way to attempt cleaning it. If it burned the paint, then it will need to be touched up with G.E. oven cavity paint ONLY, which your local dealer or servicer should be able to get for you.
Do not attempt to clean it with any flammable or toxic solvents.
