Re: cracked screen replacment
Absolutely, it will work fine as long as it's out of the same model. I recommend Ebay, and use Ebay for most of the replacement parts for machines that come through my shop. I beleive on these any screen from the 5000 series will work as long as it has the same deminsoins, ie..15.4 inch, 14 inch wide screen, etc...

I would start by doing a search on Ebay. Often times you can get parts or a damaged laptop with parts for a very reasonable price. I just did a search for your laptop model and found a damaged Acer Aspire 5315 for $81. As of this posting on 10/31 at 9:10 am CST time, the auction ends in 2 hrs.
After doing a quick internet search, I found a web site called http://www.screencountry.com and I saw a monitor for your model listed at $99.
this laptop is cleverly designed, it is most probably the daughter board. this is where you connect you ac adapter. the daughter board or power board, eliminate the need for you to replace the whole motherboard when the connector is damaged. all you need to do is replace the power board. if this does not fix the issue, then there is a likely hood that you need to replace the motherboard
but before you attempt the above, first check if the ac adapter is not the problem
you should be a frequent traveller, and might be having very rough with the laptop.
anyway acer is a genuine brand and never shows such problems, and this should be the mistake of yours in using it.
just try the following, remove o.s from system completely and reload the o.s. (genuine windows vista reccomended) if this not corrects the problems, you should sell it for the cost they are bidding for, because if the above said hint does't sorts out the problem, then it should be a technical error, and this requires service by a qualifies proffesional.and since you can't afford it, better sell it when its working properly. get back me for any assistance @ firstname.lastname@example.org
