Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W7 Digital Camera
Just bought a new DSC-w7 camera and for some reason the Picture Package Software will not load on my PC. It will load on my wife's old Dell Computer. What happens is that it starts the install and gets to the point of creating the program subdirectory and then just stops. It does install the USB driver without a problem. Going through the CD I got the Image Mixer software to load by manually executing the setup program for it, but that is as far as I can go. Support was no help and said that if it works on one computer, Then it must be my computer and i should go to Manufacture. PC is a Shuttle XPC with AMD Athalon Processor 1GB ram and 160GB drive. XP Professional and SP2 loaded. Anyone know what I could do to get the Picture Package software loaded? Thanx

I recently bought a DVD403 Handycam which come with Picture Package 1.8. Installer falls over right after you hit the final ''Install''button (after its gathered all the parameters''. Called the support line. They took me through a bunch of simple diagnostics (disk space, processor speed, whatever). Then they told me that this was a reported and repeatable problem with installing on XP Pro and that ''the problem has been pushed back to Japan for resolution''. Also took my email address and promised to contact me with the fix when it was available. No timings were forthcoming on this when I asked. Probably worth you doing the same thing. Number is on www.ppackage.com.

It's not something I own, but I have had some luck disabling DEP in XP. Look up XP DISABLE DEP on google.com There can be many other reasons such as spyware damage, firewalls and more that are "in the way." Another poster found Roxio interfered with Kodak software installs. Finding the toxic combo is always fun.
