I cannot access my yahoomail. Shaikh

Have you signed up for Yahoo Mail Plus?

Without the paid subscription, they do not allow you to send/recieve mail through a POP account on another Mail client like Windows Mail or Outlook, and you would only be able to get your mail through their Webmail Service.

If you have signed up for Mail Plus, please update, and I will be happy to help. :)

Since you have not signed up for Yahoo Mail Plus, they do not allow you to use another program to access your mail. They want you to use their WebMail Page so that they can serve you ads to pay for their service. They have an excellent Email Web Page, so it's a small price to pay.

But if you really need POP access and don't want to pay to get it, you could consider using Gmail. They allow POP access for free. Just setup a new Gmail account and go into the settings on the Gmail Webpage. From there, you can enable POP access. Be sure to write down the server information you will need to enter into your Email Program.

Good Luck with whatever choice you make!

Here are my settings in Outlook, but you need to enable them on Gmail FIRST. Of course, use YOUR name, email address, user name, and password.

  • Stephen Aug 29, 2008

Ok, you now need to set up your email program to use their specific POP3 settings for Mail Plus.

Verify the following in your account settings of your email program:

    Incoming Mail (POP3) Server:
    plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 995)

    Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server:
plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication)

    Account Name/Login Name:
Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com")

    Email Address:
Your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., user@yahoo.com)

    Password:
    Your Yahoo! Mail password

If this does not work, let me know. I won't leave you hanging...

Getting the following message from windows live mail, any help appriciated Unable to send or receive messages for the email account. The connection to the server has failed. Server: 'mailin.manx.net'...

The most likely explanation is that your ISP (manx.net?) server is temporarily down. You can connect by webmail?
If it is manx net then you can try accessing your e-mails by logging in on here.
If you can access through web browser, but want to set up windows live mail click here.
Settings for manx.net - for Windows Mail but same will apply in Outlook.
Hope it helps.

Are you using Windows mail or Outlook? You need to set the sockets and outgoing server settings.
Try going to Outlook Express tools, Accounts, then click on "ISP Account".
Click "Properties", then the servers tab and check that the detail in the SMTP entry is correct for your ISP. It may be advisable to delete it and re-enter it to be sure.
Go here and do further reading.
If you use Windows Live, use one of these settings. You can check it from here, and also download the setup again. If it gives more trouble, go to Add/Remove Programs and from there you can select Repair or Change->Repair.
Check the router settings to check whether it blocked (or check the settings if you have a firewall).
For further help, please Right Click on My Computer and go to Manage and go to Event Viewer and go to the Application category and copy and send us the exact error message please.

If this answer helps you, please kindly rate the answer.
Wish You Luck.

Email set up problems

from the data you have given, me, it sounds like you are using Either Outlook, or the bundled Windows Mail service.
What is happening, is that an email your program is trying to send, an email with "test" in the subject line, but is unable to because it cannot connect to the server. looking at the string, I see several problems. make sure your settings are configured a mentioned below:
  • Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 995)
  • Outgoing (SMTP) Server: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication)
  • Account Name/Login Name: your Yahoo! ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com")
  • Email Address: your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., user@yahoo.com)
If this doesn't resolve your problem, refer to this page for more information. (Note: if you do not subscribe and pay in to a "Yahoo Plus" plan, this could also pose a problem, as Yahoo does not allow you to use third-party email programs with their "free" service, as they like to restrict it to webmail only. If you want a free email service that *does* however, I strongly suggest you check out google's Gmail service [what I use])

I have been using windows live mail for several months for two email accounts. My hotmail account works fine but for my second westnet account (www.westnet.com.au) i am able to recieve email but unable to...

G'day,

All of the documentation on the westnet.com.au site shows that your "Outgoing mail server" should be set to "mail.westnet.com.au", not "mail.wn.com.au". Please check both of your accounts in Windows Live.

If this doesn't fix your proble, could you please repost the settings for your two accounts so that I can compare them?

I was having this same problem.

Here's what I did:
Under Tools-->Accounts, select email account and then select Properties-->Servers. At the bottom, check the box "My Server Requires Authentication," and then select Settings. Select "use same settings as my incoming server"

After I did all that, my problem disappeared. Hope that helps you.
