SOURCE: will not close while tape

Several things could be happening...the tape is backwards, upside down, inverted or just wrong type since it closes without it. Next check to see on the inside if something is jamming the tape. While it closes without a tape there could be something that jams when a tape is inserted.

A clip came off my Cannon sure shot 150u on the left side and it wont wind the film, how do i fix?

hi, this is film camera uses 35mm film , the clip is used to keep the film wound tightly on the take spool, no problem , use ultra thin cello tape on the tip of the film and attach it to the take up spool , ensure that the rewinding stops as soon as the counter reaches 0 or 1 , in case the camera does not have switch, remove the battery on time hope this works

How to clean the focusing lens?

First question: where is the dust?
If the dust ist outside the cam: no problem. Try a soft brush and remove bigger particles, then take a thin microfibre cloth and clean the dust film on the lens. Be careful - every sand particle scratches the coating, so use the brush!
If the dust is internal it's more complicated.
May be the dust is on the focussing screen. If you dismout the lens, there is a litte lock on the top inside the cam. Do not open without having special tool. Each fingerprint on this little plastic plane is not removable. It's an extreme sensitive fresnell lens.
Don't try to clean that with cloth or brush. Only airflow is allowed.
If this dosn't help - use the Canon service or replace the focussing screen with a new one (as Example Canon EF-D).

When i turn on my cannon sd550 digital camera i get "memory card error" on my screen. this happens even when i put in a different card. any ideas?

First, make sure your camera is designed to use the kind of card you are using. Some of the older Canon digicams will not accept the higher capacity mem cards. For instance, they may accept the 2GB cards but will not accept high capacity 4, 8 or 16GB cards.
You may want to try to format the card in your camera, if you can get it to that point on the menu.

New Camera, no picture on screen

This is normal for this camera. Think about it. The CMOS chip can't see through the mirror. After the shot is taken the electronic shutter exposes the CMOS chip and makes an image just like exposing film on a film type camera. Once you get used to it you may like it better. In outdoor or bright light situations it's difficult to view the LCD screen to frame the shot anyway.

Cannon lenses

All canon EF lenses (and compatibles e.g. Sigma EX) can be used with both analog and digital  EOS-bodies. Depending on the sensor size (usually smaller than a 35 mm negative) a crop-factor due to the smaller field of view must be considered.  Example: Canon EF 50mm/1.8 lens used on a digital EOS (40D, crop factor 1.6) equals a 80mm lens (50mm x 1.6) compared to analog cameras using 35mm film. Some digital EOS-models can also use EF-S lens-series.

Reinsert the cassete

This is for a Dsc-W50 Camera? That would only happen with a camcorder. Have you tried another tape? Sounds like the drive heads are out of alignment
