Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

1 Answer

Toshiba RD-XS24SB I have this unit just over 2 years and the clock display has stopped. Despite numerous resets it fails to run but just maintains the last time entered on the screen.Would exhausted internal battery be the cause of this or how would you suggest I deal with this problem. It is a terrible nuisance as it renders the programmed recording function non existant. Mny yhanks in advance. regards, Arthur Ryan

RD-XS24SB - did you solve your problem? Toshiba say I need to call out an engineer.

I have exactly the same problem with a recently purchased Toshiba RD-XS24SB. Cannot get the clock to work. Am searching various forums, but just wondered if either of you have found a way to resolve this yet? It would be much appreciated.

I have just switched mine on and have the same problems

Will not auto update clock and when you set manual just stays the same

I thought about looking for a internal battery ?

Or just the clock update and run from mains frequency ?

DVD unit says, disc is empty, with all DVDs inserted. DVDs are correct region and correct type, and they playback fine in other DVD units. I have already reset the unit per the Toshiba tech support site. I...

First, insert the DVD into the recorder.
Then, try double-click on OPEN/CLOSE button on the remote control. You have to make it very quick - two quick clicks on the same button. If done correctly, you will first see OPEN, then CLOSE in the right corner of the screen.
When done successfully, the unit will recognize the DVD again (if the burner has not failed totally.)

I tried that with RD-XS55 (it has the same DVD-RAM drive as RD-XS35.) It is not perfect solution, but it might help temporarily. In my situation, it bring my dvd drive back to "life," so I do not need to do double-click all the time.

Let's face it, your burner is dying whether you like it or not. And new replacement would cost you around $200.
