Question about Beam Industries 2775 Serenity Plus Central System Vacuum

2 Answers

Beam Serenity Plus doesn't ****

We have a Beam Serenity Plus whole house vacuum. My wife emptied the basket this afternoon and I've cleaned the filter. Since replacing the basket, the vacuum still makes the same amount of noise that it made prior to cleaning--comparable to standing right next to a relatively quiet jet engine--but the vacuum doesn't have much sucking power. Near as I can tell, there is nothing stuck in the hose or in the pipes. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

I recently unplugged our Beam Serenity Plus. Now the unit will not shut off when I have it plugged in, and now when it is on, there is no suction power. I have tried everything I can think of to reset it.

SOURCE: no suction beam serenity plus

You may need a new filter bag part #110346. They can cause suction problems at the unit. Either that are there is a problem with the motor, does it sound alright when running? If not, take it to a beam repair shop, with proof of purchase, the motor would be under warranty for the part only, not labor. The filter bag is not covered by warranty.

SOURCE: BEAM Serenity Plus 2900 has shutdown

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. OK, there is a reset button on the unit but i think it could be that your vacuum could be clogged in the vacuum lines and that you should check all the inlets/outlets in your house with your vacuum hose - or get a vacuum cuff and go to each individual outlets and check the suction by feel - if the outlet is clogged you may have to call someone to unclogg it or by going to each oultlet the system may unclog it self -- or you can use a plumbers snake and be careful because the lines in a central vacuum are thinner than the walls in a plumbing situation or have it professionally unclogged by a priofessional. When you are using another vacuum to unclog the unit make sure the central vac is runing and to try to pull the clog apart from both directions. System not working when switched on.Observed 3 amp fuse blown. Replaced with 13 amp fuse and switched to manual. Sparks and noise coming from one motor. ? brushes or motor need replacing.

Fuses blow for a reason. It's never a good idea to replace a fuse with a higher amp one. House fires can easily be started this way.
As for the motor, at this point the whole motor will need replaced.

It sound as though the magnitron is going. This is basically the heart of the whole unit. It will cost the same to replace the part as it will to replace the unit.

Carbon buildup on plug to hose causing burn

Sounds like there could be a short in the hose. Try another hose and see if that's the problem. It's too soon to have to replace the unit. Try having the hose checked out, it could be the root of your problem

Can you replace the cloth bag in a beam central that is about 20 years old, the vacumn sends a dusty smell though the house

It is not recommended to change that bag. The best thing to do would be to borrow a shop vac from someone and vacuum it off really good. The bags sell for about $60.00 and they are a big pain to change out. The other thing you can do to help the odor is look into exhausting the unit outside. All manufacturers recommend it.

Do you know what a filter bag looks like in a central air vac system?

The unit displayed is a Beam Electrolux central vacuum power unit. It has a 15litre dust bucket which does not need any dust bags.

If you take the bucket off you will notice a white shiny weighted bag hanging down. This is the filter. The good news is, it is a self cleaning filter.
