i have just set up a linksys wireless N network. 3 other computers with b/g cards can connect to it fine. The computer with this usb wireless adapter, however, cannot even pick up the router at all even though it can pick up about 25 other servers. It makes no sense and i'm racking my brains out!

Same problem here. Just spent an hour with Dell tech support and everything is hooked up correct. I am ready to try a linksys wireless adapter instead of the Dell 1450 so they may be compatible.

Lol, I've had the same problem and I too racked my brains. I suggest a linksys adapter, thats what I did and it worked out fine. P.S maybe its just not compatible

I hope this helps.

I had one PC that still worked, so I connected to the hub (adanced settings) ans changed the security protocol to WEP nd the wireless protocol to 802.11 bg. This allowed my Dell 1450s to connc.

My main computer is vista, the one with wireless router , but I want to use my xp computer with the dell 1450 wireless usb adapter. it won't work

Dell do not provide support for vista on the 1450 USB adapter - see here http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=bsdv&dl=false&docid=20075A1DBD60D650E0401E0A55175C46&doclang=en
I have not tried this - but found on another forum http://www.vistaforums.com/Forum/Topic5380-21-1.aspx olution:
  1. 1) Install the Dell 1450 USB drivers on a PC with XP32 (assuming your target machine is 32-bit)
  2. 2) Copy the "2K" drivers from the install directory ( c:\program files\dell wireless ) to a flash drive.
  3. 3) Copy the "2K" drivers from the flash drive to the Vista machine. After you plug in your 1450 choose to manually select the driver then browse to that folder. You should be up an running in a few seconds.
The extra connection manager software that came with the adapter won't run on Vista but you'll still get a good wireless connection.

Dell wireless 1450 usb adapter

any wireless router will be ok, they are all the same standard normally 802.11G, but if your adapter is 54MBPS go for a 54G router, or if 108MBPS, go for the faster router.
