Question about Hitachi 42HDS69 42 in. Plasma Television

1 Answer

Loud noises My Hitachi 42HDS69 is having audio problems. The sound is all the way off and it is making a loud scramble/garbled noise. If I hit mute on the remote it changes to a higher pitch tone. Any idea why?

Thanks for the advice, it worked like a charm. Any idea why it would do that? My wife said she just turned it on and the sound was garbled.

Try resetting the TV. Unplug the AC, wait 1 minute then replug it. If not fixed, its requires service.

All LCD TVs are like little computers, but no keyboard and no reset button. When it goes awry the only it needs to be rebooted, but there is no single switch to do that.

Most all LCD TV problems that are 'wierd' can be fixed the same way, unplug and reboot to 'erase' the memory.

However, the same problem may reappear since there is either a bug in the program, called firmware, or there is a defect in the hardware that can show up when the unit is run for some time, hopefully the same solution will work.

Try to check first the audio setting in the main menu, to make sure that the speaker are not set off or the mute setting. and you can use a multi media speaker or computer speaker and install it at the audio output of your tv to be sure that you are getting sounds, if you are getting sounds then the problem can be in the power amp circuit, but if you do not get any sounds the problem would be the sound processor circuit you may need to bring it in the repair shop or you can contact a service technician to repair it for you and save you from stress good day and best regards.

Loud buzzing noise on vizio tv

It sound like you may have sound processor problem which is part of the main board, I would also look at the 12vdc from power supply to make sure it is clean DC.

Using s video from laptop to tv, audio connection does nothing no matter which input I try - how do I get audio to the 42hds69?

I don't know which laptop you have, but I've connected plenty of computers to plenty of TVs, & I can tell you there is no audio signal on an s-video connection. Right now I use a digital SPDIF output on my computer that runs to my AV receiver for sound. This uses a regular RCA-type cable to send dolby multichannel sound to my amp. If you don't have a digital-out for audio on your laptop, the next solution is a cable which has on one end a 3.5mm mini-jack (headphone plug) and on the other end has two RCA-type connectors. These are very common cables available anywhere cables are sold. Buy a short one and then use couplers and a longer cord to reach all the way to your TV or amp.
