Hifonics colossus-ltd dual monoblock amp does not have much output, running a cerwin vega stroker dual 2 ohm sub wired 4 ohm load bridged

Bridge at 4ohms your only getting 600watts rms. You will need to bridge at 1ohm (parallel) and adjust the gain accordingly. This will give it 1600 watts rms. If you would of had a dual 4ohm sub, then you could of bridged it at 2ohms mono, but you can't you have to go either 1 ohm or 4ohm. I believe it's not getting enough power.

I have the MRP-M1000 amp. I want to hook up 2 alpine subs to this amp. Which alpine subs would be the best for this amp? Please be specific with ohms and watts.

Your best bet will be to wire 2 subs in parallel to the amp. Each sub should be rated for at least 300 watts rms at 4 ohms. This will give you a total impedance of 2 ohms, and your amp will put out 600 watts rms at that impedance. That way, each sub will receive 300 wats rms. I would not recommend wiring subs in parallel, as you will need two 1 ohm subs at 300 watts rms, which are harder to find and will be more expensive. A parallel circuit is the most efficient way to do it.

I have a alpine M500 amplifier running a hifonics brutus subwoofer and i think it is blown. I don't understand how this could happen as the amp is only pushing 500 rms and the sub takes 600 rms. I got no...

Hmmm, let me see here. Did you mean to say you have TWO subs connected to this amp? A single sub can only be wired in series with the amp. Even if you have a capacitor wires in parallel, the capacitor is not a load, but a souce equivilant, and therefore can be merged with the amp as a single source when put on paper.

When they say a sub or amp is so many watts rms, that means that the device can function safely, without worry of failure. THERE IS NO LEGAL METHOD FOR DETERMINING THIS NUMBER AND NO REGULATIONS ON VARIANCES. Having said that, if an amp is 500w rms, it could very well push double that for long enough to blow your speaker. It all depends on how much power went through that speaker. So since you have a 4 ohm speaker, not two, and it would actually act like a two ohm speaker if you put another one in parallel because 4||4=2ohms equivilant. never never never, turn the bass all the way up if your gonna beat loud. Low frequencies draw lots of power and can damage your system.

you can tell if your speaker is blown by turning the volume to a medium listening level and placing your hand on the cone. you will hear a crackling sound if it is blown

What size amp do i need to run 4 1000 watt pyle 10's bridged

well first of all you cant bridge subs... you can bridge an amp... and for 2 they are probablly not 1000 watts, make sure you understand RMS and what the sub can ACTUALLY HANDLE properly... i would get a 1000 to 1500 watt RMS that is RMS RMS RMS RMS amp not one that says 2000 watts MAX POWER cuz thats cheap ****... get a kicker JL hifonic alpine or something in that category that actually tells you the TRUE power output of the amp... then run those 4 subs in a parallel circuit so its like really only having 2 subs. make sure then these subs do not run less then 2 ohms at the terminals while in a parallel, then bridge these subs acting as 2 subs not 4 to your TRUE 1000 watt amp and you should have a good powerful system

How to connect HIFONICS BXI 2607 D watt at 1 ohm....

That's dependent on your subwoofers. You will need 2 dual 4 ohm subs wired in Parallel, a single dual 2 ohm subwoofer wired in parallel, a single dual .5 ohm wired in series. Or something similar.

Why does the kenwood kac-9103d has two sets of terminals if its a one channel amp so how do i hook up a dual 12 phoniex gold 1200 watt sub to it

Hello damasogrizzl,

The 2 sets of terminals are connected internally. Having 2 sets just makes it more convenient when wiring multiple subs. The amp is rated for 900 watts RMS into a 2 ohm load. The specs claim that it is stable at 1 ohm but does not give a power rating.

The Radial SD competition series from Phoenix Gold are rated to handle up to 600 watts RMS. If you have the model RSdC124 with dual 4 ohm voice coils, it would be best to wire the voice coils in parallel for a 2 ohm load and connect the sub to one set of terminals on the amp. If your sub is the model RSdC122 with dual 2 ohm voice coils, you should wire the voice coils is series for a 4 ohm load and connect the sug to one set of terminals on the amp. Wiring the voice coils in parallel will result in a 1 ohm load. And, while the amp may be stable at 1 ohm, the sub will be seriously overpowered.

Hope this helps.

Dual voice coil wiring to class d amp

The easiest way to think of wiring voice coils and subs is this:
  • Two items of the same impedance in parallel = Half of the impedance
    • 4 ohms in parallel with 4 ohms = 2 ohms
    • 8 ohms in parallel with 8 ohms = 4 ohms
  • Two items of the same impedance in series = Double the impedance
    • 4 ohms in series with 4 ohms = 8 ohms
    • 8 ohms in series with 8 ohms = 16 ohms
In this case, you want to wire two subs, each with dual 4 ohms voice coils, so that the total equals 2 ohms. Your options are:
  • DVCs in parallel, 2 subs in series = 4 ohms
  • DVCs in series, 2 subs in parallel = 4 ohms
  • DVCs in parallel, 1 sub = 2 ohms
With two, dual 4 ohm subs, you can only have 1 ohm or 4 ohm total impedance.

Amp Will Not Stop Overheating

You say you have 2 p312d2 subs. Ok so the d2 stands for dual 2homs (2 X 2homs voice coils per sub) , conecting in parallel the 2 voice coils of only one sub will create 1hom load to the amp, and if your amp is 2homs stable per chanel that means you are lowering too much your homs causing the overhwating to it.
