Can you guys tell me if the left bottom corner side of photos coming from the Pentax S40 are blurry (softened) like most of the S4 models did ?

Re: S40 : Blurry left corner

I wholeheartedly agree with what you have said. My main point when buying this camera was because of it's size. I like other features of the camera as well, so an occasional blurry corner does not bother me. Overall, I would say that the camera takes good pictues. If I wanted excellent pictures, I would carry around one of those digital SLRs. But I wanted something that I could put in my pocket and easily take it out and snap pictures. The S40 does this nicely.

Re: S40 : Blurry left corner

Taking pictures with my S4i it is obvious that in certain photo circumstances, macro especially, the depth of field is very narrow--that is front to back. You can have softness in any corner depending on what is in your field of view. Anyone who is terribly concerned about this issue with the S4i or the S40 really ought to consider a camera with a larger lens and CCD. These little cameras have some design limitations so that they can be pocketable. My S4i takes great pictures for what it is and is supposed to do. For superior photos I have to tote my MUCH larger Olympus. There are great in between size cameras from all manufacturers. Give your photographic ambitions their best chance and make sure you check out cameras that do best what is the first priority on your list. The littlest ones just make sure you get the shot--not necessarily the best shot.

Re: S40 : Blurry left corner

I think the first couple of pics gets a blurry corner, and it is quite noticeable.. I hear that it was a problem with some Optio cam but not all. Maybe you could check with Pentax for a replace ? I know it quite anoying but it deserves a serious investigation. And btw, thank you for the samples, great pics. I would be really interested in seeing full size (origianl) images and some portraits. Can you post some on pbase.com ? They have 10 MEGS accounts for free.

Every time I'd try to turn my camera on, it would give three beeps and then go off.

I decided to search your Fixya tips, and I found it. All I needed to do was press and Hold the OK/Menu button while I turned on my Samsung S630 camera and it worked!!!!!!
Thanks for the tip, and I hope Someone else will get the same benefit

Blurry images on camera

When operating any digital camera, the camera tries to capture the best focus and exposure for that particular scene. By pressing the shutter button half-way down, the focus and exposure is being set. There will be a green circle on the upper left hand corner of the screen, then your camera is ready to take the picture. Slowly depress the shutter the rest of the way down to take the picture.

Also try to reset the camera back to factory settings as there may be a setting that is causing this issue to occur. To reset the camera - go to Menu - left arrow to reset - highlight Yes and press ok. This will reset the camera back to factory default settings. See if the blurriness still occurs. If it is still blurry you may want to send to Olympus for evaluation and repair service.

Looking for viewfinder is blurry (Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ28)

There's a small dial on the left side of the viewfinder (next to the flash button) that allows you to focus the viewfinder. I only found it because I had the same problem - must have knocked it out of focus by accident!

Why do my Fun! Digital 320 pictures come out blurry?

Blurry images can be caused by any or all of the following: * Distance/Focus range -- the Fun! Digital 320 has a fixed focus range of 3 - 6 feet (1.8 meters) for brightly lit indoor photography, 3 ft. (1 meter) - infinity for outdoor photography. For best results, make sure that the camera is at least 3 feet away from the subject(s) when taking pictures. * Camera/Subject movement -- This is a common cause of blurriness, especially in low-light situations (see Lighting below). Hold the camera as steadily as possible while taking a photo, or use a tripod (a tripod mount is located on the bottom of the camera). Avoid subjects that are in motion. * Insufficient lighting -- the Fun! Digital 320 is designed for taking photos outdoors or in brightly lit environments. Inadequate lighting can exaggerate camera movement and contribute to blurred, "muddied," or uncrisp images. * Lens condition -- Check the lens periodically for smudges. If necessary, wipe the lens clean with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use cleaning solutions or chemically treated tissues. * Enlarging images using software -- otherwise normal digital images can appear to become blurry and/or blotchy when over-enlarged in software. To see an image's "true" appearance, use the software's Zoom In or Zoom Out feature to view it at 100%.
