We have a Cannon Image Runner 1023 printer/fax/copier. How do I add a user to a local network. we have id codes but do not know how to add a user to this network.
Calls to Cannon for support go unanswered.
I don't work on Cannon copiers so I don't know if this will apply but you can give it a shot.
Go to the printers in you computer. You need to go into the advanced settings of the drivers and look for field that allows you to insert the id code. Hit apply once you are done.

When you are connected to the network, users should go to the 'Control Panel' and open 'Printers and Faxes'. A window will appear and click on the 'Printer' window. Then click on the 'Add Printer' option in order to start the Add Printer Wizard. Usually the first screen of the Wizard is the welcome screen and in the second screen users should select the type of printer they want to add and click 'Next'. The users should make sure that they enter the right name and path for the printer. When the connection gets established depending upon your network access rights, printer access rights and local installation rights, then the printer gets added to your list.
If you are looking to install the drum yourself and would like to avoid a technician doing it, I suggest going to precisionroller.com, as they have fair rates and possess a very large inventory of all copier and printer supplies and parts. I apologize that I couldn't be more helpful, though your details were rather vague.
This is setup when adding the scanner as a network scanner during the inital installation. The only way I have found to fix this issue to uninstall and reinstall the network printer driver. When going thur setup for the scanner and it asks for a User ID type one in. You can also choose to use a pin or leave blank to not use a pin. Once you have reinstalled, the User ID will then appear on the printer LCD.
I am not sure what a AS/400 is, but I do know what chip they are asking about. It is called a Network boot Rom. It is like allowing the copier to be a printer. If you look in service mode under display version. It will have a "N" for networking and "C" for a stand alone copier- no printing. Also, some of the new copier come with it and have other options like faxing. Also, are you buying a new one or used? Also, are you going to use it alot? You may want to go with the c4080 or the faster model c5850 copies a minute. Take from me I work on all of them and the c3170c is not a work horse.
Did anyone change some thing in the computer?? Or added new software?? Also, did someone change the user setting on the copier, Maybe to just a copier or just a fax??? Do some huntting and get back to us
