SOURCE: how do i restore my

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
  4. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.

If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails, recovery of the Operating System will need to be from Recovery Media. If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, you may purchase the set online from the Acer Recovery Media Order Form.

Then you need the Windows OS disc and drivers. You should've done a backup disc when you first got it.

SOURCE: i want to factory reset acer aspire 3630

Unplug your system from the wall outlet, open your case, and touch a metal component inside the box to equalize static charge; then remove the motherboard battery. Wait 5-15 minutes, replace the battery, and your machine will be back to default state.

Restore to factory settings

The Acer Aspire One is a netbook, not a laptop.
A netbook is a smaller, scaled-down version of a laptop. It does not have the memory capacity or graphics of a regular laptop.
It also lacks a CD drive, which means you cannot restore the Acer Aspire One with restore discs. Instead, the netbook has a built-in factory restore feature.
You can reset the Acer Aspire One to factory settings just using your keyboard.
Only restore your netbook to factory settings if you cannot fix the problem any other way.
Save any files or folders on your Acer Aspire One with flash drives.
Drag and drop files onto the icon of your flash drive.
Go to "Start" > "Restart" to reboot your netbook.

Hold down "Alt" and "F10" when you see the Acer logo on the screen.
The recovery menu will load.
Hit "Enter" and then "Next" to see your recovery options.
Choose "Factory Restore" to set your netbook back to factory settings.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Choose your time zone and language when the customization menu appears.
Reboot the netbook when you are prompted.
Restore your saved files from the flash drive.

How can i fix my Acer aspire one D255E Notebook 2010. Tried the Alt +F10 to internal reset to factory condition and it doesn't respond, and my acer notebook don't have a CD. drive to put a disk to...

You have several options, like contacting ACER for a restore disc and make a USB installation with: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msus/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool/
Of course you will have to use another PC to make it. You can also use a regular Windows installation disc, but you may need to locate the drivers on your own.

I am trying to restore my Acer Aspire One D255E to Factory Defaults but the restore is stalling at "Installing Cleanup" phase, it has been on this phase for over 8 hours. What should I do?

First of all, the other people apparently don't read before they post.
The Acer Aspire D255E has NO CD ROM, thus no restore disks, etc.
There is a factory restore option, but I'm having the same problem, the restore option simply does not work. These crappy computers keep a spare partition hidden on the hard drive, which contains all the data needed for the factory restore. However, if something happens to this partition or this data (say it's accidentally formatted), then the factory restore will fail, having lost the backup.

I've tried using Win XP on a flash drive using WinToFlash to copy the windows cd to a flash drive and make it bootable. However, I think my win xp version is a win98 upgrade, and so my next step is to make a bootable win98 flash drive. I'm about to try that and hope for the best.

If you've got windows 7 (which the Aspire One normally comes with),
then you should have much less trouble getting this step to work.

As a side note, if you have a BIOS password you need to break, do the following:

1. Unplug the AC cord and the battery.
2. Hold down FUNC and ESC and don't let up.
3. Plug in a flash drive containing the Acer One BIOS
(which you should find easily on the web).
4. Plug in the AC cord (still holding down those 2 keys)
5. Turn on the power, and wait. The flash drive may light up for a moment, and the laptop may seem to be doing nothing, but it is!
Keep holding down FUNC and ESC, maybe 2 minutes, then the Aspire One will power itself off. At this point, the BIOS is reinstalled, and the password is gone.
