The reason is that Windows XP doesn't come with SATA hard drive drivers. You have two options. The easiest being go in BIOS and check for IDE compatibilty mode or IDE emulation. Enable this and XP will install just fine. Your other option is to use a program called nLite and download SATA drivers from intel's website and you can incorporate them into a Windows XP slipstream install disc and it will install no problem.
are u talking abt LAN driver thats what u mean then download the follwing driver and install it will work 100% actually ur machine came loaded with vista and u are using Xp thats why toshiba is not providing driver for XP but no problem try the link below

if you have a WIN XP cd you can partition the drive with the start up after you ckick set up win
click F-8 and then install the first win screen you should see will say f to format d to delete partition ckoick the d
then are click the c to create a new partition and then f to format the new partition then load the drive
