Are you trying to install the OS from a new CD and giving the product key from the sticker on laptop. This will not work as the product key given on ;laptop is for OEM version and the retail CD product key will be different category. If you havent repartioned your HDD try reinstalling the OS by pressing F11 key after POST( after BIOS SCREEN)

If the key provided on the case/manual then you will probably have to deal directly with 2KGames.

They will either give you a new one or explain why the one you are trying is not working.

I suggest you try again and make sure you enter the code exactly as it shows. Even Caps and lower case make a difference.
