I lost the manual for A Bell model 1438DP frs radio.

FRS/GMRS radios operate in a frequency range that is strictly line-of-sight. That is, if you cannot see the party holding the other radio, you cannot communicate with him. No matter what a manufacturer claims, the effective range of these radios, under most circumstances, is 1/2 mile or less.

I couldn't locate your specific model, but all of the Microtalk series radios seem to be basically the same as far as operations. Follow the link below to a manual that you can download/print -- it should work fine with your radios:

Some number their channels differently, but all FRS/GMRS radios operate in the same mode and will have at least some frequencies in common. Check the channel/frequency lists for both radios and you'll be able to talk to each other.

The Bellsouth 2231 is a FRS VHF I couldn´t find if thi Bell south 1007 is FRS in UHF or VHF if you have this informtion compair them if both are in the same band VHF or UHF both radios can communicate to each other
