Question about IBM ThinkPad T21 2648 Notebook
If the humming noise is coming from the base of the screen, then it's the inverter and it will need replaced. You can check to see if this is a screen related problem by connecting an external monitor, if everything functions correctly on the external, then it's in the screen area. If you still have a black screen on the external, then the problem is internal, and the humming would indicate a serious problem that may need some professional attention. Try the external and let me know. If it's something other than the screen area, we can try a few other things in order to track down the problem.
