Are they using PS/2 connectors or USB connectors?

Maybe this could sound ridiculous, but it happened to me once, in the past (when the connectors were the same color). Is it possible the the mouse is connected in the keyboard's port, and vice versa?

Okay. It is possible the only the computer's connectors are in trouble due to the power shortage, meaning that you could use an adapter for your mouse and keyboard and connect each of them to a USB port.

Well, there something else to try. You can you connect your keyboard and to another computer to check if they still work. Hoping, it is only the keyboard and mouse and not the motherboard the problem.

    Okay! It's a laptop. Sorry!

You mentioned that your keyboard works in the BIOS. So, you can move in the different sections of the BIOS configuration with the arrows. Right?

When you reinstalled your system, were you able to use your mouse and keyboard to answer the questions asked for the configuration?

One more question: can you restart your computer and press F8 and select the Safe mode?

Since you can go in the BIOS, is there a place in the BIOS where you can select Default settings.

Yes. All the files in the Documents and Settings/(your login name)/My Documents will be lost.

If you have an other partition on your hard drive, you can save them there.

Otherwise, I suggest you go to a repair desk and a tech can help you to save your datas.

If you could give me more info about your laptop (the brand, the model), that would help me.

Why does screen go black and keyboard and mouse no longer work?

Hello,

I'm not sure what Operating System you are using on your PC. But from what I can see, you might be using Windows XP, Vista and/ or 7. This kind of abnormality usually happens when the computer is infected with a Trojan or Malware. Is your antivirus software upto date and functioning well? Scan your PC and clean it fine.

If this still happens, you might be having some malfunctioned hardware; Motherboard, Ram, Keyboard or Mouse. Check these carelefully to ensure that they are working great.

Lastly, if this still happens, your Operating system might be having way too many errors that it might call for a re-installation. Backing up data and doing a clean re-installation might be something to look at.

Please let me know on how it all goes.

Ive just reinstalled windows xp and the keyboard and mouse are not responding so i cant access desktpo at all

Hi.

If both the keyboard and mouse are USB connections then you will have to wait a couple of minutes for the operating system to install the drivers for them, just keep on wiggling the mouse until the cursor moves.

If that does not work please post back.

Regards.

How do I reinstall microsoft xp software. I now have 3 versions on my computer and I don't know how to erase everything on the hard drive in order to just have one version. I really would like to install...

Boot off the XP pro cd. When it asks for which partition you want to install onto, select your main partition and press 'D' to delete the current partition, then follow the prompts to create a new partition in its place. It will no longer complain about previous versions being installed.

WARNING: this will wipe all the data off your PC.

Wireless mouse and keyboard issues

If you have both sets of keyboard and mouse plugged in, turn off the computer and remove the old mouse and plug in the new mouse. Reboot and if necessary use the keyboard to login. Once windows is loaded let it detect the new mouse and then shut down again. Take out the old keyboard and reboot. You should now be able to use both new pieces without problems.

Dell C521 Will boot to User login But cannot use mouse or keyboar

If it is a USB then it should work with any keyboard and mouse. When you say it shuts off after XP loading screen, does the machine power off? have you tried unplugging the mouse and keybaord and let Windows load?

Cordless Mouse & Keyboard install I need help

if you have a disc for the new items ,install first, shut down pc, then take the old mouse & keyboard off connect the new wireless ones before rebooting
you may need to sync the mouse & keyboard by holding in the small little button on each item and the reciever unit untill the lights come on indicating it is recieving the signals from both mouse & keyboard.if this does not work put the old mouse back in reboot then go into control panel / mouse, and sellect wireless mouse ,turn off the pc plug the new mouse back in then boot up

good luck
