Question about Acer Computers & Internet

I bought the Acer TM2451WLCI Laptop computer about a year ago. Right out of the box it was very slow and it hasn't gotten any faster. Is there anything I can do myself to make it perform faster?

There are several freeware programs that would help. a couple things you can do are to run defrag on the drive...
also go to start.... my computer ... then right click and select properties..... when that window opens click on disk clean up.

make sure all the boxes are marked then click ok and yes to confirm.

FIXING A SLOW LAPTOP/DESKTOP COMPUTER

FIXING A SLOW COMPUTER
A slow computer could be caused by a number of things –
1. Insufficient RAM memory – if your computer has less than 512Mb of RAM then increase it to at least 1Gb of RAM.
2. Registry problems – clean and repair the registry, it will contain unused registry keys. Use a programs such as Registry Mechanic, Microsoft RegClean etc.
3. Uninstall/remove unused programs, this will also free up hard disk space.
4. Not enough hard disk space – swap file space may need to be increased if Windows hasn’t been configured to manage it.
5. Install latest Windows updates.
6. Update virus definition files and scan computer for viruses, Trojans, malware etc.
7. Clear the Internet cache for faster browsing.
8. Hard disk maintenance is required at least once a month to keep it functioning efficiently.
Run the following programs -
Disk Cleanup - removes temporary files that are no longer used and
to recovers hard disk space.
Disk Defragmenter to make fragmented files into contiguous files and therefore the hard disk access is faster.

Slow running E3048

Most likely software. Possibly toolbars or other such add-ons. Try going to Start > Run. Type MSConfig. Goto Startup tab and uncheck all possible programs from auto starting. Nothing will happen if you uncheck too many. In fact the more the faster your system will run.

You can also disable web browser add-ons. Either from the browser options or Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel.

I bought an acer 23" all in one computer from a local box store less than one month ago. I have had many issues. I think this computer may have been previously sold as I see data dating back to 6/10/09. ...

Sometimes it takes computers years to sell off the shelf of a store. All the software will show a date of when it was preloaded. You figure you wait for production, shipping, then a consumer. Most likely it isn't a restock. If you call Acer they might be able to tell you when the computer was assembled, but that may be it.

My laptop is goin really slow and i dont know why. i downloaded my favorite game world of warcarft and it was fine but now everthing on my laptop including world of warcarft is goin realy slow please help...

Did you install many more things after you downloaded the game and before the game had gotten slow?
Sometimes games take a tremendous amount of resources from the computer, and anything else that can be running in the background such as anti-virus software can really bog the system down. If you game crashes to the desktop, this can be a sign that other programs are running and taking up to much of your resources. If you game plays fine, and then slows down after a few hours, and only a reboot will speed it up, than this can be a lack of RAM. I would suggest that you start by turning down the frame rates, and details on the game and see if this helps. Generally, games have the options to do this from the main menu. If this doesn't work, I would suggest that you turn programs off that aren't needing to continually run on the computer.

Re: I bought the Acer TM2451WLCI

formatting is possible. i'll need to read your original issues as this particular message does not show them. you must realize if you go the format route you lose all data on the drive. do you have a way to back up all the pics and music etc before you do that ?

And does that acer have a floppy drive ?

My computer is real slow, I have defragmented the hard drive and did a clean system and it is still extremely slow. How can I speed it up without getting a new processor or computer?

Although this problem was posted a long time ago, apparently only one other person tried to help. So let me throw my two cents into this situation.
While you did defrag the hard drive, you did not mention whether you did an old fashioned disk check on it. In most Windows versions, if you open Windows Explorer (Window key+E) you will get a directory of your drives and folders. Find your "C" drive, right-click on it, and choose "properties."One of the tabs at the top of the box that opens should say "tools."
One of those tools will give you the option of checking and correcting the hard drive for errors, caused by numerous reasons. Especially if you haven't done this in years.
Place a check in each box in the options for checking and correcting, even though it says that it won't happen until you restart your computer.
So, close all other applications of every kind, then choose to shut down and restart your computer.
Be prepared for a long time to elapse while the computer finds and, if necessary, fixes bad spots on your hard drive. In most cases, Windows will relocate your data to a different location, so that you do not lose anything, if it happens to find a problem or more than one problem on your hard drive.
Just be patient and allow Windows to do its work, fixing your system.
When it is done, Windows will restart, and your system may actually be faster than before.
One thing you should be most aware of - if you don't have a lot of memory, even if Windows finds and fixes hard disk problems, it is not going to do miracles and make your computer run faster than ever before. It can only go as fast as the amount of memory you have will allow it to go. But if there have been disk problems, and they have now been fixed, then your computer should run faster than it has in the past, since it doesn't have to deal with bad spots on the hard disk. And those spots will be marked by the system so that they will not be used again, thus protecting you from putting data there and slowing your computer down once again.
Defrag your computer at least once a month, and treat it right. It should last a while for you and do the tasks you need done.
I do hope this helps you.
Cheers!
-a.

My new desktop is so slow..........I want to throw it in the trash. (bought 6 weeks ago from Tiger direct.ca) Do you have a solution?

There can be a number of things that are slowing your computer down. First queston is, are you talking about it not running fast on the internet of in general running slow. I am going to take it your talking about it running slow over all. With new computers they (the maf.) but a lot of unecssary software in the "Start "", that really slows down the computer. I am going to tell you how to take care of this problem.

Go to Start-Run, when the winodw pops up type MSCONFIG (it looks like a lot of stuff, but's it only a teddy bear), go to the START UP TAB. You will see check markes next to all the software that is starting u and using a lot of system memory. Yo simple uncheck the ones you do not want to run at startup, now when you uncheck these the program will still run, but only when you tell it to,

When you have selected what programs you want to or do not want to run, Click on APPLY and then OK. The computr will restart and should begin to run faster.

When you have completed this, please let me know how it's working, and if still slower than you think it should be, then we will go to the nextstep.

How to upgrade a new compaq presario SR2150NX?

Add more RAM, 512MB ram will slow your computer down because when you run out of ram the computer uses the hard drive as vitrual ram. I have 4GB in my Vista machine and it is faster than XP.

Another suggestion is to turn off the hard drives indexing. Right click on your "C" drive and unhook the "index this drive for faster searching" box.
