T5026 crashed ... i think.. no cds

I moved my tower to another room, set it up, put in my password and the screen was stuck there. I restarted the computer and it starting making a clicking noise and then the screen said no hard drive found. Now it asks for a boot disk but I can't find any of my cds. Am I out of luck? How can this happen. I was just using the computer fine before I moved it to another room. What can I do?

Bunnydawg, I don't know what kind of drive. I'd say whatever is standard in the Emachine. Sorry I wasn't more helpful. I looked on the tower but didn't see anything.

  • dmetria Aug 28, 2008

ok, I will check all plugs. It comes on and the "e" comes on the screen and then it goes to the black screen with the error messages and message to insert boot disk. I'll try again and update in a few. Thanks for your help. As luck would have it, my warranty expired March 18, 2008.

  • dmetria Aug 28, 2008

Naw, didn't work. Still says "no bootable device. Insert boot disk and press any key". Any other thoughts? Oh, it was making a clicking noise before. I didn't hear it this time.

The first entry.... where you can set the time but also detect the hard drive.... make sure it is set to auto detect.... also is the drive shown as master or slave and it will tell you the brand and model number if it detects it.

half way to a solution if it is detected properly

I am getting the message, Blue Screen that says Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error, also at time it saids that no hard drive is detected can I replace the hard drive for this computer

what you are getting is know as the Blue Screen Of Death. You can very easily replace the hard drive for this computer. and easier option would you could get either your repair cds that come with the computer or you could purchase windows xp vista or seven cds. once you get these cds you can format and reinstall the operating system. you want to make sure you partition the drive. all yu do is put the cd in the cd drive and as soon as you turn the power on the computer look on the bottom right and left it should say setup or bios hit f2 or f12. you are going to want to go into there and select the boot order. you can move around in your bios by the arrow keys. you will want to select boot from cd. Once the setting are changed you can save and exit. it will then boot from cd. once it does it will be self explanatory on the screen walking you threw setting up windows. after you complete set up your computer will restart. you will want to repeat earlier steps and go into bios and change boot setup back to your hard rive. you should be all set by then.

Trying to begin

You have to clear the CMOS to clear all power on passwords.

With the computer facing you remove the power cord and then take of the left hand side panel of the tower to expose the motherboard.

Look near the bottom right of the motherboard for the BIOS battery. It looks like this >>>>>

Remove this battery for about 20 minutes periodically hitting the on/off switch to dispel any residual power from the motherboard. This will clear the CMOS for you.
After 20 mins is up put the battery back in and put the side panel back on.
Turn on the computer and it should boot to the operating system.

Remember to set the year, date and time as these will be reset.

Crashed hard drive on emachines T5026

Pardon me, but NO! The statement, "two things are responsible for booting up computer RAM and Hard Drive" is simply not true.

A hard drive crash COULD cause the symptoms you describe, but that is more indicative of a virus infection. When you say the XP reinstallation disk would not start it exactly how did you use that disk? Attempt to use the repair console? Boot directly from the disk? Attempt reinstallation of the whole operating system? If you attempted reinstallation, do you also have the specific drivers for all of the components E-Machines used when they built your computer (you will need at least some of them.)

Post again with some more details about how you used the reinstallation disk.

Philips X200 laptop crashes regularly.

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Tableau Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} I had something close to that and I solve the problem by replacing the motherboard but before you think of it, you can try different things.
Maybe some parts are shorted the microprocessor

So to start unplug the dvd player, the keyboard, mousepad, the screen.
If you ear an alarm, it’s mean the motherboard work so far.

Plug the screen back and try to restart and so on.
If it stop working you know what part to replace.

But if you stuck only with the screen on, it might still be the motherboard or microprocessor.
To open it, download the service manual :

Thanks for using fixya…good luck and don’t forget to rate this…

Emachine t5026 not power on. replaced psu.

I would test the memory. Also I think some computers will shut down if the fan on top of the CPU quits working. Or maybe one of the other fans or the Hard Drive quit and is drawing too much juice causing the PSU to shut down. It sounds like something may be grounding.

E-machines T5026 comes on goes only to the "e" screen

Some bios use F5 for a one time boot sequence. If lucky you'll get this option to choose cd rom as first boot device.
You can remove the Cmos battery for about 3 min. It is the small round watch looking type battery on the motherboard. This may reset all defaults in case of hardware/software conflicts.
If nothing still try a new Hard Drive.
YES I would say you have crashed because it is "just stuck". But this doesn't mean your computer is fried.
Try these things if your want let me know what happens and I'll try to help from there.

There is a recovery option with the xp installation disk that will fix your master boot and boot record on Hard Drive. If your interested let me know!
