The operating system is corrupted, you will have to arrange and disk for windows using which you may repair the same.

After booting from the cd.
Press "Enter" to set up XP.
Press "R" to repair the current installations of windows.

Note * I have given the solution assuming that you are using the win XP

All the best
Regards
Sammy

I imagine this is in a continuous loop back to the black screen asking how you want to start, safe mode, normal, etc....
A majority of the time this is due to a failed hard drive, but it could also be a corrupt operating system due to a virus. Start by doing a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. If the repair doesn't take, the reformat the hard drive and install a new operating system. If the hard drive will not format or you have any problems during or after the install, then the hard drive has failed and will need replaced.

I'm going to elaborate on Sammy's solution, because if you press R in the wrong repair section it's just going to confuse the hell out of you.

At start up, you need to go into the boot menu, or go into the bios and set the CD drive to boot before the hard drive. Once you have booted from your recovery or operating system disc, then you will need to press enter to set up Windows. You will come to a screen that you can press R to repair using the recovery console, this is not the repair section you want, press Esc to continue the setup. It will then search for existing operating systems, once it has found the operating system then it will give you another prompt to press R for the repair, this is the repair section you want. Press R and let it run through he process. This where, if the repair doesn't take, you run this process again, but instead of pressing R, you want to delete the partition which will consist of pressing D, then enter, then L to confirm the deletion. Then you can set up Windows on the blank partition. I know this seems complicated, but it's not really all that bad. If you get stuck, just holler at me through the ask me section by my name.

AS YOU ON THE SYSTEM AND EVEN BEFORE WINDOWS STARTS KEEP PRESSING THE F8 KEY CONTINUEOUSLY. A MENU WILL APPEAR. SELECT SAFE MODE AND ENTER. WINDOWS WILL LOAD IN SAFE MODE. THIS WILL SOLVE SOME OF YOUR PROBLEMS. NOW RESTART THE SYSTEM IN NORMAL MODE.

IF THIS DOES NOT WORK SELECT "LOAD WINDOWS WITH LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION " AND THEN RESTART. THIS WILL SURELY SORT OUT YOUR PROBLEM.

I hope that you have a goood back-up of file. Getting blue screen error is a fatal OS problem. You need to re-install windows. You need to get the CD that came with your computer or the operating system disc you used to install the windows. Insert the disc on the CD-DVD drive and restart your computer. Watch for a Press any key to boot from CD or DVD... message. Installation will start. Good Luck!

Hi there !

For some reasons computer can crashed because some corrupted, missing files, virus program or faulty driver installed. Faulty installed drivers or multiple drivers installed with the same drivers can crashed your computer. Running on Safe mode will remove mulltiple same drivers in your computer and it will run on fresh install driver when loading to normal mode.

I suggest to run your computer on safe mode.

To run on safe mode, just restart your computer and press F8 to run on safe mode. After going to windows setting, restart your computer again. Check if this solve your problem.

I hope it helps you and thank you for using FixYa!

The computer shuts down on its own, stay on for about 5 mins. I made everything is plugged in.

Restart the computer in safe mode (Press F8 key when you restart computer and see the dell log untill you see the Advanced boot options, choose safe mode using your up and down arrow key and hit enter).

you system will load the basic windows drivers and will not connect to internet.
Please keep your system on and work with it for some time and test it. Even in this mode if your computer restarts then its definitely due to heat, else its due to application errors or driver errors

Computer Crashed!!!

Format it and start again,
hope you saved your important stuff ,
if not take your drive out and plug into another machine ,
now using the other machine to sort out your stuff for saving,
Save and then format the drive thru device manager .
Select the Drive from your computer while your in Device Manager.
Right click on your Drive (drop down appears)
A Quick format seems to take a short period off time.approx 10min(depends on hard drives size)and its ready for use straight away.
Plug it back into your original computer and it should be happy as again.lol
Hope this helps, let me know out come thanks

Computer shut down ..wont restart

what has happened is your hard drive as failed and that is why it shut down and then gave the unmountable boot volume. You could try repairing windows using your XP cd but it's a new hard drive i recon.
