    I don't even understand the advice I received.

  • jbrickman Aug 28, 2008

    I'm sorry but I do not understand your solution. Am I supposed to make changes to the registry keys as you described? I am not at all sure where to even begin.

  • jbrickman Aug 28, 2008

    I just completed updating my phone and the problem still exists

  • jbrickman Aug 28, 2008

    My PC Monitor settings on the phone are the same as on my PC, including connect to the Exchange Mailbox using HTTP and the HTTP connection settings are the same on both the phone and the PC. I do see the arrows going around when I try to sync

    I do not know yet - I will contact our server tech support people.

Create this folder and it will install

c:\windows\system32\logfiles
create a folder called firewall and the hotfix will install

c:\windows\system32\logfiles\firewall

This fixes it!! YIPPEE worked on 3 PC's for me all versions

There's a restriction on the server or something like Access Policy. You may need to enter the MAC Address or IP Address of the device to sync with the server. Check with your network admin if there's MAC Filtering Policy or Firewall Rules before you can add any device on the network.

This error means that the PC Monitor was unable to establish or complete communication with the Wireless Sync server. To troubleshoot, first verify your proxy settings and also verify that the Monitor is able to connect to the Internet.
Verify the Proxy Information for the Windows user account:

  • Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools-Internet Options, Connection Tab- LAN Settings.
  • Verify that those settings match what is in PC Monitor. If “Automatically Detect” is selected then no changes are required to the PC Monitor. If “Use a Proxy Server for your LAN” is checked then copy those settings and enter them into the PC Monitor.

Verify that the PC Monitor is able to connect to the Internet:
  • Log into the Wireless Sync WebPIM. Go to View and select Activity Logs. You are looking to see if any connection is made to our servers from your Monitor. If so then you know they are getting outside the firewall.
  • Alternatively, when the PC Monitor does its first initialization for a user, do you see blue arrows going in a circle during the initial first time sync? If so, then the Monitor is able to communicate with the Wireless Sync server. If you don’t, then it is not going outside the firewall. If it’s not going outside the network, you will have to troubleshoot your firewall timeout policy and the amount of simultaneous connections that can be made through the firewall. Also, check your company policy for this type of software to transmit large chunks of data through the firewall.
Hope that helps........

    If that's the case you may need to contact your server because something is blocking the completion of the sync to the exchange server, it can be a security policy or firewall that is causing it...

You might try updating the phone. I believe that with Verizon you dial *28, but I'm not 100% sure. Changed my service, and it's been a while since I had Verizon.

For a start you'll need to change one of your computername declarations to regcomputername (the bit where you Dim them - you've done the same one twice). As for your problem, replace hklm with HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and it should work

option explicit
dim objshell
dim regactivecomputername, computername, reghostname
dim activecomputername, regcomputername, hostname
regactivecomputername = "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\" & _
"computername\activecomputername\computername"
regcomputername = "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\" & _
"computername\computername\computername"
reghostname = "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\services\tcpip\parameters\hostname"
set objshell = createobject("wscript.shell")
activecomputername = objshell.regread(regactivecomputername)
computername = objshell.regread(regcomputername)
hostname = objshell.regread(reghostname)
wscript.echo activecomputername & " is the active computer name"
wscript.echo computername & " is the computer name"
wscript.echo hostname & " is the host name"

Microsoft Exchange Server. HTTP 500 Internal Server Error.Any recommendations?

To resolve this problem, follow these steps on your Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003 back-end server. Alternatively, follow these steps on another computer that has access to the same domain controller and the same global catalog server.

NoteThis procedure requires the Exchange Server Fix Toolbox
1.Start the the Exchange Server Fix Toolbox
  1. Right-clickYour_back-end_Exchange_server, and then clickProperties.
  2. Clicknetworkaddressin theAttributeslist, and then clickEdit.
  3. Add a new value forncacn_ip_tcp. Use the FQDN of the server instead of the NetBIOS name or the host name of the server.

    The syntax for this value isncacn_ip_tcp:FQDN. For example, if your Exchange back-end server has a host name of EXCHANGE1 and the FQDN is EXCHANGE1.domain.com, use the following value forncacn_ip_tcp:ncacn_ip_tcp:EXCHANGE1.domain.com
  4. Remove the oldncacn_ip_tcpvalue that contains the NetBIOS name or the host name of the back-end server.
  5. Apply this change.
  6. Because your Exchange computer may change this value back during a failover or a system attendant restart, configure the following registry value on both nodes of the cluster:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeSA\Parameters\UpdateProtocols
  1. Right-clickUpdateProtocols, clickModify, type0in theValue databox, and then clickOK.
  2. If your network uses a Hosts file on the back-end cluster node, modify it by using the following order of entry:
  3. Restart the Exchange services on the back-end cluster node.
  4. If there are multiple domain controllers, wait for replication to occur before you try to log on from the front-end server. If the problem is not resolved after replication is complete, restart the IIS Admin Service on the front-end server.

Microsoft outlook on my verizon HTC SMT5800

Unless you are trying to sync with another Microsoft Exchange Server (say at your new Job) or you are running an Exchnage server at home on a dedicated server.. you will not be able to set your phone up with exchange.

One Suggestion I may have would be to setup outlook on your phone to connect to your email via Imap4 or POP3.

You might want to remove the activesync partnership to your old company if you havent done so allready to help get rid of the exchnage sync error's.

Hope this helps.

And The SOlution Here IS :

The way to sync with Exchange Server (as detailed in the documentation that came with the phone and as I have it set up following those instructions) is:
- You go to the verizon wireless website, create your verizon account, enter all the details for your exchange server (address, username, password, etc).
- The VZW server pulls info from your exchange server and then the VZW server sends this info to your handheld.
You may want to call VZW tech support if you are having difficulty setting it up.
And Thanks

Error message #80070002 treo 750

Ok, email can be setup using a bunch of different protocols. The difference is how directly you phones data and the data on the server interact. POP and IMAP are methods for receiving email from the server, to send they use a protocol called SMTP. With POP3, email is all downloaded to your phone and saved there, with IMAP you only download the headers (...a header is like the back cover of a book). An Exchange server can do SMTP with either POP or IMAP, but when it says configure for Exchange - it means actually connecting to the mail server and integrating contacts, calendar items, email, like the Outlook client on your Windows machine. This is obviously much more server intensive and requires special permissions to do.

POP and IMAP will require the following information to work. Your login name, your password, your server, and whether the connection is secure. To find these out you can go to your coporate webmail. The user name is what you put in the user login spot, as is the password, the server will usually be either mail followed by a dot and the second half of your email address, or the web URL for the mail server...if the web access page address starts "https" then the connection is most likely secure.

Old version of ROM

Looks to me like it's the verizon 6800. Go to www.htc.com/us and follow to the 6800 and download the software by phone and carrier. There is no software for any of the phones on the standard HTC site and the 6800 is not listed on it.
