Sony Cyber-shot Digicams - Picture Quality !?!?!?

I just recently upgraded my 3.2MP Sony Cyber-shot cam to a 5MP one. To me, the picture is still not good enough. The pictures do not seem CRISP ... some colours seem to blend in together, and make the picture blurry overall. Additionally, when I tried printing some pictures on regular 4x6 photo paper, the pictures came out blurry. And I know it's not my printer, because it printed AMAZING shots, from other pictures (professional). The pictures came out all grainy, blurry, and not very vivid, i guess not saturated enough. What would you recommend?

I'm assuming you purchased a Sony as replacement. If that's the case, take it back and ask for a new one or have it checked out. Something sounds horribly wrong to me. If by chance you got one of those Chinese/Taiwanese cameras. Give it away and go back to the P72. Of course, a few hours reading the manual and playing with the camera may solve your problems. Don't try to get fancy first off. Stick with Auto modes until you get a feel for what you're doing. If you are using Auto the go back to the first sentence :-) BMW

So i have a Sony Computer it's not a lap top, Its like a desktop. and it has a built in web-cam and microphone, The web cam did work for a while then one day it just turn black. It says its working right...

I have found that the installed web cams on most units are inferior and a external USB cam has better quality in sound and picture and are very cheap and can be pointed in any direction and even used to copy photos your screen or documents , so if you are a frequent cam user buy your self a USE cam for $50 or less

Sony Cyber-shot takes lots of blurry pictures in

first thing you can do is to try reverting cam back to factory settings.to do that initialize the camera.it's under menu>setup settings>main settings1>initialize. after initializing, set cam to auto adjustment mode (green camera icon in mode dial). what to avoid when taking pictures:
1.subject too close (use macro if needed)
2.insufficient light
3.subject movement
4.camera movement (that's caused by you)
5.incorrect camera setting
5.incorrect camera operation
btw, before you take a picture, press the shutter button halfway down first to give the cam ample time to focus.you'll see a flashing green indicator on the screen that means cam is focusing.when the indicator stops blinking cam is ready for the shot.press shutter button all the way.review your picture.if still blurry, you may try changing iso (for dark or fast moving subject, note:the greater value the noisier the picture gets), metering mode and focus settings by going to the shooting menu (press menu when your in P or program mode). hope this helps.tnx:)

Sony Cyber-Shot weird lines, dosent like bright light

It is a bad ccd it need to be replaced some time you can get lucky by resetting the camera in the setup menu. When you take a picture the image is transmitted throught the ccd and translates the image to the cameras memory. It can be fixed. Or you can upgraded. Some places might offer a trade in value on your camera even if it is broke.

DSC T20 poor image problem

If you took the images at 8MP or 5MP settings, then normally you have a high resolution picture, was the picture clear at the cameras LCD monitor? As you said its like low res in your PC, please check the image file size 8MP resolution will be approx. 3Mb size, if its about that figure, then the problem is in the camera, if the file size is about 500K maybe its in the camera settings, PC cant affect resolution, unless you only have VGA card and monitor, hope this will help, thanks

Sony Cyber-shot Digicams

The Sony P72 should produce excellent photos. You stated that you had just purchased the camera which may be a clue to the problem. With a film camera, you push the shutter button and bang you have a picture. With a digital camera you push the shutter button and about 1.5 seconds later the focus locks and then 0.2 seconds still later the picture is captured. Since you are not accustomed to that shutter delay, you are probably moving the camera. Most digital cameras will let you push the shutter button down half-way to achieve focus lock. Then press the button the rest of the way down to take the photo (remembering there is a 0.2 second delay). When you plan to snap that picture, be prepared to be perfectly still for 3 to 4 seconds. Try taking some pictures with your camera sitting on something solid (or a tripod) and see if the photo quality doesn't improve. There is a good 9 page review of the P72 camera at: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/p72.html One of the pages contains sample photos. Select one of the photos and click on it. When the photo finishes loading (large file), then RIGHT click on the photo and click "Save photo as". Save it to your hard drive. Print that photo on your printer. That will give you the chance to see how a known good photo, will print on your printer.
