Have you upgraded your OS to Win 7? If so this is a common problem, use the Vista driver found here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/dimension-3100 Have you done ALL the Windows updates? Take a look at changing the Compatibility of the driver . Download the driver and Save the file to a folder, Use this procedure to change Compatibility : http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-compatibility-mode/ For further assistance respond to this post.

Try to update your graphics card driver also in counter strike setting tab go to video tab and use open gl insted of software renderer.

Check device manager and install / update drivers. Might have to download from Dell if Windows does load.

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or
if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver hope this helps

hi, any and all updates for your 3100 can be found HERE ...if you decide to get the 2.18 firmware (which i recommend) because it adds Alaska, PR and Hawaii maps to your 3100 and fixes some major bugs, but beware, the firmware update for the 3100 is very large and can take up to 45 minutes to install and can NOT be interrupted, if it is, it will render the 3100 inoperable, so follow the directions to the letter.

read the instructions carefully

keep in mind, if your gps dies while updating, it will be not be usable...if the power goes out to the computer in stalling the update, the unit will not be usable.

im not trying to scare you, but i buy these all the time where someone has tried to update their 3100 and either the battery died or they unplugged it before the update was finished ect ect.

its actually very easy but magellan doesn't give enough warnings as to what can go wrong if your gps dies or your computer restarts ect ect ect.

switches on but no navigation. Press navigation and it bleeps only but will not change mode for search

u can still install in ,open yer control panel - device manager -choose yer device and right click to update driver -choose search internet

If your card does not support it then you are unlikely to be able to use the 3DFX. You may want to try updating your grahics card drivers to see if that helps at all from the Dell support website

Otherwise you may be looking at a better grahics card

where are you getting that error message, on the pc or the 3100
