SOURCE: Ruud heat pump outside unit trips circuit breaker

Check your wiring between the contactor and compressor for a short to ground, or check the compressor windings for short to ground.
With the Tstat off, the contactor should be open so the only way for the compressor to be trying to do anything is if the 110 volts from the unbroken side are traveling through the compressor to ground. Since 110v is not enough to run it, the overload is kicking it out, cooling off, and repeating the cycle. When you kick on the Tstat, the contactor is supplying voltage directly to ground without going through the resistence of the compressor windings and kicking the breaker.
Post back and let me know what you find.

SOURCE: ruud UAKB-018JAZ outside condensing unit will not run

Trace the wires (small cable) going to the out door unit. This is your 24v control circuit. when it enters the outdoor unit it ties to wires routing through the inside of the unit trace these down. For AC units 1 usually goes directly to the "contactor" (the item you push in and the unit runs?) the other wire can also go to the other side of this same item. But I suspect it goes through other tings before it finally gets there.
Some items are the high and low pressure switches and a delay timer.
A red button sticking out where you can reset it is the high pressure switch and if it clicks and lets it come on you may have a dirty outdoor coil or a fan motor outdoor that is not operating all time.
A low pressure switch has no reset normally on AC or HP.
A delay timer will have 2 3 or 4 wires depending on the type of timer. 1 of these wires goes to the contactor (usually) and one of them feed this wire. remove the wire going to the contactor. now 1 at a time take the other timer wires and touch them to the wire just removed. if the times is bad the contactor will click when you touch one of them with the removed wire.

If its a heat pump you will have to make the contactor try to come on around the board. and this you will need some knowledge on which and what feeds your contactor. Here Id suggest a technician. If I had a way to see your setup and wiring I could talk you through this but its too hard to type and would take way too long.

SOURCE: Ruud Achiever 10, outside Fan wont spin unless I help it.

The part you are talking about is called a capacitor. They come in various voltages and ratings. The best thing to do would be to find the rating tag on the motor, and look for the capacitor rating. There are many, many different sizes and types, so it is best to consult a proffesional before attempting to replace it on your own.

What ton is a ruud uaka-060jaz

This is a 5 ton unit. There is 12,000 btu's per ton, so you would multiply 12,000 x 5 = 60,000 btu's.

Ruud UAKA-030JAZ fan spins, not blowing cold air

there are 3 things to be considered, first,if the compressor motor `s connectors are having loose,it gives a hi ampere to your RELAY that can cause to its contacts being fried, second, the compressor motor itself is gaining a hi ampere already i.e. having unusual sound that can cause heavy friction inside the turning mechanism and third the last but not the least, maybe this time, the tubes or the compressor itself having very small holes that causes to the refrigerant to escape and it doesn`t gives off cold air.

Ruud 5 Ton UAKA Condensor fan running but compressor won't start. Internal thermal overload cycle.

Have you checked the wiring going to the compressor to make
sure it is not melted? Next, are you
able to put your hand on the top of the compressor? Check to see if it is hot or cold. You might have a bad run capacitor so let the
unit turn on, wait about 5 minutes, turn the unit off, and then tell me if the compressor
is hot or cold to the touch. Next, are
you comfortable with a meter?

Have a 11yr old RUUD Uaka 060jaz with the A coil frozen, solid, no air getting through. Service tech came out and charged system with minimum 3lbs of r22 but suction pressure wouldn't go above 6

Hello, typiccally with noncondensables in the system your head pressure would be alot higher. 175 is pretty low high side pressure. Usually coils will freeze due to either low airflow or low refrigersmt charge not becuase of non condensables. I would get a second opinion from a differant company.

It is a Ruud UAKA-024JA2 combination of air conditioner and central heater. The outside air conditioner fan stopped running but buzzed. The capacitor is out of order. Do you have instructions how to locate...

Hello, the capacitor is a round or oval metal can that is located in the control pnael of the outside unit. In order to replace it you must turn off power to you unit and unhook the wires that go into the capacitor, but make sure you label them so you remember where they go back. When you unhook the wires take a screw driver with a insulated handle and put in across the terminals of the capacitor to discharge it. Then just remove and install new one.

My ruud serial number 5427 M1496 07992 Model UAKA-024 Jaz Is not blowing cold air. I started the unit inside the house then went outside to see if the fan is working on the outside unit and it is...

1) Replace both fuses if there are any out by the unit
*also make sure the breakers are not tripped. there will be two
2) if you get the unit running inspect the outdoor coil under the outside fins to see if the coil is stopped up with dirt, grass, etc.
*if the coil is dirty, disconnect the unit from power, take the 4 screws out on the top of the unit that hold the fan motor assembly in place. Carefully set the entire motor, blade and assembly off to the side and be careful not to pull the motor wires loose. With a water hose and sprayer, carefully wash the condenser coil from the inside out. You will see a lot of debris on the outside fins you will have to wash off. Be careful not to have so much water pressure that you bend the aluminum fins on the coil itself.
** many times if the coil is stopped up this will cause the unit to overheat and trip breakers

RUUD uaka-036jaz not cooling, outside fan does not turn on but air handler (in attic) runs and circulates hot air - how to fix and/or reset?

Check your disconnect or breaker that is located close to the outside unit. Next you need to check the contactor in the outside unit. Set the thermostat to make the air come on then check the contactor. It should be pulled in closing the contacts. If it isn't the problem could be the contactor or thermostat. Next check the voltage on the load side with it pulled in. If that's good then check the capacitor. If it looks swollen, it's bad. You can also use a multimeter with the capacitor check function to do this. Let me know what you find.
