I cannot get my IPhone and AT&T 2wire to get an Internet connection. My IPhone shows that I have wireless connection, but whenever I try to go to a web site, or check my email, it said I do not have an Internet connection! When I'm outside of my "2wire router", I have NO problem picking up and connecting to any other wireless connection. Has anyone else had this problem, and how can I fix it? It is frustrating especially because the IPhone is AT&T, and so is my router!!! It was then suggested that I downloaded the IPHONE applications, but I can only get so far... I get an "ACTIVATION ALERT" that says, "No signal detected. Signal is required to complete activation." I finally drove to where I have signal, and "completed the activation", however, when I got back home, I am having the same issue. (Showing FULL signal, but NO INTERNET connection on my IPhone)
I had this exact same frustrating problem. The problem was a simple password issue. Although I had changed the password on the modem to my own personal one, that password only affected the administrator settings. When I used this particular password on my iphone it would put the checkmark next to the 2wire, but I would not get the wifi symbol at the top of the screen.
I fixed the problem by using the 10-digit password supplied on the actual router instead. I told my iphone to 'forget' the network, then reselected it and when it requested my password I typed in the 10 digit number and 'presto,' i had wifi symbology!
I hope this helps.

Re: Cannot connect IPhone to 2wire :( HELP!
Hello again Colleen. I'll do my best to get this going for you as I can imagine how frustrating it must be. I too have weak signal at home and really appreciate the wireless connection. We might have to go back and forth a couple times, so please be patient. :)
Do you have other wireless devices connected to this 2wire router? Are they working properly?
I've tried in vein to connect my company's iPhone for testing purpose. I even reset the whole phone but the wireless simply refuses connection. I then remembered something about firewall then... I added the iPhone's MAC address to my 2WIRE '2701HGV-E' router and save. The next thing I try was to enter the 10 digit pin again... IT WORKS! Power off and power on the iPhone and i'm on wireless connection. Awesome... - Iskandar
i just figured out a way to do it.
First, you have to change the DNS, and restart your modem. Download this app from the app store called Easy wifi or device scape and it may help you to bypass a ton of bugs. Also i tried changing my password a couple of times and it actually worked! my iphone connected and i used safari like on a usual network.
I also tried to bang my router with a hammer, but that didnt work eiter. LOL.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Ad-hoc is a computer to computer connection. You need to change the wireless configuration to Access Point (Infrastructure) mode with encryption.
Your wireless card
in your computer or laptop needs to be configured with the router's wireless
settings eg. the SSID and encryption key The encryption key
(network key) is in your wireless router, without this key the wireless router
won't allow the computer or laptop to connect to this wireless router. The WEP, WPA, WPA2
encryption key is in your router's wireless settings. Log into your router and
got to the wireless settings, you will need to get the SSID and the encryption
key. Then go to your computer or laptop's wireless card and configure it with
the router's SSID and encryption key, so it will then connect to the wireless
router and the Internet.
Connecting your iPhone to the internet is an easy process. You just simply use any application on your iPhone which uses internet service.
Your iPhone can either use WiFi or Cellular for internet access.
- A WiFi network is simply a wireless network. You can find them at coffee shops, libraries or even at your house if you a router setup for wireless access.
- Cellular data networks allow Internet connectivity over the cellular network. Check your carrier's network coverage in your area for availability.
When you use an application on your iPhone that requires internet service it will either connect to the last WiFi network used, or if that network is not available it will list all available networks in range. You can simply tap on the network you wish to join and it will connect. If the network requires a password it will show a lock icon. If no Wifi networks are available your iPhone will connect over the cellular data network and fees may apply.
To see all the Wi-Fi networks in range, from the Home screen choose Settings > Wi-Fi. Tap a network to join it.

Do you have problems connecting to any other wireless network with your iPhone?
Have you tried using the forget this network option on your iPhone for your wireless network followed by trying to connect to the network again, and/or using the reset network settings option on your iPhone which erases all previously saved wi-fi connections that you have successfully connected to with your iPhone? Let me know....

I too found that not only the iPhone but also MacBooks were having this same problem with 2wire devices. I think I saw the page you were speaking about, and I'll let you know on my next message.
As far as the Profile Picture, I'd be glad to help.
1. Select the picture you'd like to use and be sure it is saved on your computer in a place you can easily find it. Also be sure it is saved in either jpg, gif, or png, and not larger than 50kb.
2. Be sure you are logged on to the FixYa website and then click on "My Profile" at the top of the page.
3. On the right hand column, look for "Useful Links' and click on "Edit Profile".
4. Scroll down to where it says "Upload Personal Image" and click on "Browse". This is where you will browse for the picture you saved earlier. Select that picture and click on "Open".
5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Submit". If the image passed the size restrictions, then it should instantly appear on your profile. If it was too large, then you will need to go into a photo editing program to resize it so it's not larger than 50KB.
You need to select the 'Settings' button on the home screen, then make sure that the 'Ask to Join Networks' option is turned on. Choose your network, and then enter in your password. I've had the same problem before, and it turned out that my phone wouldn't connect without setting the computer to require a password. If this doesn't solve your problem, please let us know.
