That code can be caused, ( normally) by 4 different things, maybe 5.
The noise you are hearing is from the maintenance kit. It moves up and down to clean and prepair the drum for a print.
1. Take the maintenance kit out and look in the opening with a flashlight. See if there is ink built up in that back side of the printer under the maintenance kit. Normallyh it will be yellow ink in that area. If so you will have to remove the scanner and document feeder, then the left cover, you may also have to remove the right side for the front cover to release the left cover.
About mid way back toward the bottom of the frame there will be where you can clean that ink out. While your at it, and waht could also be the problem, is a stainless steel pivot block. avout 1 inch square will be contaminated with ink also, clean it well.
2. The maintenance plate, the black piece that lifts the maintenance kit, may be warpted or broken, You can see is when you remove the maintenance kit.
3. The process Drive motor assembly may be mis timed. It is on the right frame toward the front. It has 2 timing holes, which you can put paper clips into, to align the upper and lower gear train, and also the arrow on the bottom metal plate must align with the arrow on the gear.
4. The print block referenced earlier may be causing the print head to bind, but rarely does that cause a noise, I add that because you may be hearing the X-Y axis motor and since it is faulting out, you may really just notice it more. But the block would more likly cause an 07,010,45 not a 43.
5 The print head wiper may be tacked to the print head.
Let me know if you need some more help..

We have this machine at our church purchased a three yr. warrant with it and it expired 5 mths. ago, but during the warm up it begins to make sort of a grinding noise, then display says scanner error #...

Scanner error 5 indicates that the scanner head is not moving. This is most often caused by a bad scanner motor. If you open the ADF top, you should see the main scanner glass and then a small piece of glass. This smaller glass is held in place by one screw and a plastic retainer. Remove the screw and retainer, pop the glass out and smell the inside of the scanner. If you smell burned elecrical then that motor has definitely failed and you either have to try and find another scanner or find a donor motor. (the HP 3380, 3330 and M2727 all use the same motor).

I have a epson artisan 800 I'm tring to fax from the automatic feeder but it keeps making a grinding sound and then it says paper jam but paper never even went through

I took apart my artison 800 with 'paper jam' error and grinding noise. Sadly enough, it is the plastic gear attached to the stepper motor which is slipping and making the grinding noise. I tried to glue it and it worked once or twice and failed again. It is a design flaw and Epson should repair this for free if they are honest about this problem. Ir is not a user-caused problem.

Canon MX7600 error 5100, 5C20

Yes, 5100 means the carriage is not moving back and forth properly or there is grease on the encoder strip behind the carriage assembly. Grease spots make it lose count and slam into the side and grind gears. You need to clean the strip with a Q-tip moist with alcohol, but very carefully, not too much pressure on the strip.

Lexmark C510 is making grinding noises while printing large jobs

I found another posting stating that the culprit was the black toner cartridge. Sure enough I changed our black cartridge and the grinding noise has stopped. No wonder the grinding noise was not happening all the time only when the black cartridge got low. Thanks for the help!

GRINDING NOISE or PAPER JAM

If you are not a technical person best thing to do is to show it to an expert. grinding noise means some part in the machine is running with the friction. and might brake something or scratch something. Find out persons who work on photocopiers in your area either samsung or Xerox. as this model comes with both the companies and Xerox people are generly better than samsung people.

One of the drum cartridges is stuck. Test by removing them one at a time with the printer off, then turning on.
