Question about Samsung HP-S5053 Television

1 Answer

I have pixels running horizontal accross the screen.

It started with a small line of white (snowy) line at the top, Gradually more and more are coming and there are other colors. When I bring up the menu, where the menu is on the screen the pixels go away for a short time then come back. This tv is a little over a year old and warrenty is over. I have tried everything in the menu to change this. We have high speed cable if that matters. If you have any help please be specific and simple.

My son and I removed the back reseated the cables and connectors and replaced the back. When we turned on the tv half of the problem was gone. What do you suggest?

  • mccallum Aug 28, 2008

Actually now the same amount of snow/pixel problem came back now.

I have the same problem. I had a repair guy come take a look at it and he spent some time on the phone with Samsung and they determined the problem is in the main board which will cost about 500 bucks to order and have them replace (300 for the part, 200 for the labor).

It looks like the part is just a card that gets plugged in like a board in a computer so I plan on just doing it myself if I need to order anything. I'm gonna try reseating connections when I get home today. I'm curious if the original poster ever got this resolved or not though? thank you.

What you are seeing is noise on the digital line or through the connections to the panel. This is usually only a connection issue. Carefully remove the back and reseat all of the cables and connectors. That should resolve the problem. If not, update this and we'll look elsewhere.

    What problem remains?

I have a feeling that this is a heat related problem. If you can solder, pull each board and check the solder connections resoldering any that appear grainy. Other than that, all that can be done is to run the unit without the cover and use a freeze spray to locate the offending part(s).

How do I correct pink and green bands accross HP-R4252 Plasma TV

First of all try, changing the input device to some other and see whether you see the same problem. Then connect your present input to a different TV and see. If you feel the input is ok, and it is a problem in the display, this is a case to be handled by a qualified service technician.

My phillips 2006 hd tv has a black line across the screen with a snowy freeze

If you have parallel horizontal black lines on a white background, you can see the separation between the lines when it is viewed at close range (Figure 1). As you view the lines from further and further away, the image gets smaller, you eventually get to the point where you can no longer see the separation between the lines, and it looks like one line. Losing the ability to see separation in the lines is exactly what happens when you sit too far back from an HDTV set. If we apply the same principle to an HDTV, a 1080p resolution HDTV has to fit 1920 vertical and 1080 and horizontal black lines separated by the white space on the screen, (that is the pixel grid of a 1080p HDTV display). Furthermore the spaces between each cell of the grid need to be very small in relation to the area each cell occupies, or you will get a screen door type effect. A bigger HDTV can increase the size of the cells and the separation between the cells, so everything doesn't run together when you sit further back.

Horizontal white lines 27A43.

You have some bad capacitors. They are located very near and next to your vertical IC. I would guess you would have to replace maybe four of these! Thanks for asking!

The vertical output IC LA7847 is failing. It will likely fail permanately and you will have just the horizontal line. The set will require service. Just do not run the set very long in this state. That thin white line can likely burn into the crt phospher and will show all the time thus ruining the glass picture tube...

Syncmaster 245B Monitor Shivering horizontal lines

Which type of video connector are you using? VGA or DVI?

If you are using VGA, the horizontal line could be due to interference, like from an electric motor (fan) near the video cable.

Other thing to try is to change the refresh rate. In Windows XP: Control panel --> Display Properties --> Settings tab --> Advanced button --> Monitor tab --> Screen refresh rate. The default ot 60Hz for LCD monitors. Bump it up to 75Hz. That could give a clue to the problem or maybe even fix it.

Line accross top of the screen with flashing black and white boxes

Thin white dashes on top of screen is PERFECTLY NORMAL. It is nothing wrong with the TV, it is the broadcast. What you are seeing is the very bottom of the timecode running. It doesn't happen all of the time or all channels. It usually happens with old 4:3 commercials predating "Digital TV." This is mentioned in your Users Manual. You should be able to adjust the horizontal/vertical position in the menu settings.
