Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Kenmore 417-91702000 washer/dryer stack

My dryer is leaving burnt marks on clothing and even tearing some of it. It was making a loud rumbing type noise as well. My husband tried to take off the front to look at it last night and just about destroyed it getting it off. We found coins and lots of lint so we removed those items and put it back together. Now it sounds even worse almost like a piece of metal is in there. It still heats up fine but I can't bear to listen to it and am afraid to lose any more clothes.

I have a stacked Frigidaire FEZ831CA washer/dryer combo and when running the dryer it makes a very high pitched (AND LOUD) screeching sound. Any ideas as to what might be the problem? Thanks, Sean

screeching sound
Sean, Bad felt gasket body to drum, if belt drive on dryer, it could be worn and slipping, making a screech, or if not the belt, the drum may have a worn bearing on its hub allowing it to run crooked and rub where it should not.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Washer leaves oil type stain on clothes.what could be cause?

Stains on clothes from this model of washer are usually caused by the door boot or the tub bearing going out. I recommend cleaning off the surface of the door boot and if you still get stained clothes I recommend having the rear tub & basket checked. I am also sending you more troubleshooting tips in the image below.

Kenmore 417.80042990 (10 year old) dryer makes a squeak as it tumbles the clothes dry. Seems to be worse as the clothes get dryer. FYI-the felt was replaced about 4 years ago, not sure it's that. But...

this is a frigidaire made dryer with kenmores name on it. The drum bearing needs more grease. You really need to know what your doing before you take that job on yourself. Its easy for me...but I have been doing it for 20 years and thats the way I role

My dryer is leaving burn marks on all my clothes...is this the heating element?

NO. You have a bad safety limit switch not breaking the heater circuit when the heat gets too high.

Burnt lines

Your problem is a bad rear drum seal-if these become worn, torn, or missing close can get caught torn or discolored in the space between the clothes drum and rear of the dryer. Replace the rear drum seal.

Parts of clothes get stuck in edge of dryer...seems to burn them.

I have had this same problem with my stack-able dryer. It was leaving small burns on my kids clothes and my good sheets. My dryer has a felt-like seal at the front of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, the clothes in the dryer can get caught and scorched or torn in the space between the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. My seal was worn out, so I needed to replace it. I had someone come in and do the work the first time but when it wore out again I just order the part and replaced it myself. It is fixable:)
