Question about Datamax DMX-I-4212 Label Printer

Media settings for thermal labels

Hi Bubbabear, I am trying to load UPS thermal labels into this printer (fan fold) without use of the printer ribbon facility. I am not sure where I need to turn off this feature so the top rollers don't spin and the main feed spits out the labels backwards. I presume I will have to tell the printer the size of the labels in the settings.

The size of the labels you wont have to tell. In the control panel of the printer you will have to tell it to print thermal and that will turn the film transfer roller off.

You may have to tell it the size though in the software you are using.

Locate your printer driver under devices and printers Right click on it and select "Printing Preferences" Choose the "Advanced Setup" tab Change media type to "Thermal Transfer" Be sure that "use printer settings" is NOT selected at the top left Click OK and you should be good. Note that any labels created prior to this change will need to be changed inside each label under the label setup.

When i try print the label..no output at the label..how to test whether the ink is function or not

I'm including this link to the users manual:

http://www.zebra.com/id/zebra/na/en/index/resource_library/manuals.results.html

But here is the basic troubleshooting info for that issue

No print on the label. The media may not be direct thermal media when printing without ribbon (i.e. thermal
transfer). See the test procedure

Determining Thermal Media Types on page 29.
• For thermal transfer printers, the media may not be outside wound or approved for use in
the G-Series printer. See the following ribbon test procedures: Ribbon Test with Adhesive
on page 32

and Ribbon Scratch Test on page 33.
• Is the media loaded correctly? Follow the instructions for

Loading Roll Media on page 11
in the Getting Started section. For printing using transfer ribbon, see

Loading Transfer Ribbon
on page 14.

Hi, I have a TEC SX4 printer which im trying to

There is usually a setting in your label software or printer driver that lets you choose between thermal transfer printing or direct thermal printing. Make sure your setting is on direct thermal.

Hope that helps !

Brady printer 2461 is receiving a message position fault. How can this be corrected?

If you are using die-cut and reflective media you have to perform a Positioning Calibration that sets the TOF and calculates the label length of the media. This process also calibrates the ribbon sensor on printers equipped with the thermal transfer option. To do this;
1) Turn ‘On’ and enter the media setup parameters in the Media Settings-Menu
2) Load media (and ribbon, if equipped with the thermal transfer option)
3) Calibrate the Media Sensor
4)
Press and hold the FEED key for approximately 4 seconds or until 2-3
labels advance. Upon completion, the ‘Ready’ message will be displayed.
Please ask if you need any further details.

Will print on sticker labels, but not on thick price ticket paper

If you are not using ribbon, the tickets are probably not Direct thermal. Try using a Ribbon and see if it works

S4M .how to do when it show alert massage

Are you using a ribbon? If so, then the ribbon is not loaded correctly passed the ribbon sensor. Or, the media is loaded in this position. Check the diagram on the inside of the door to make sure labels and ribbon are installed correctly. If you are not using ribbon, then you need to set the printer to direct thermal in the front panel and/or the software.

Every label printed starts further down on label zebra 105se

It sounds like the problem is with the media sensor. Make sure you haven't loaded the ribbon through the same slot that the paper enters on the media guide. There is a reflective metal plate above the media that reflects the sensor from below the media.

CHANGE LABELS AND NOW LABELS ARE NOT PRINTING

The printer is set to Thermal Transfer mode (uses a ribbon). You need to set it to Direct Transfer mode, so that no ribbon is expected. You can do this in the control panel on the printer. Must also do this in Windows, in the properties of the printer (Control Panel-> Printers.)

Good luck.

Zebra S600 Thermal Ribbon Ripping after printing

Hi chunnon,

What darkness setting are you using? If the darkness is at or near 30, you may be burning through the ribbon.

Try defaulting the printer and running a Pause test. Does the ribbon tear during the Pause test?

Media setup

Turn the printer off.

Release the thermal print head from the platen.

Insert the stock into the printer so that the label is below the printhead and resting above the rubber roller.

Close the thermal printhead so that it is resting on top of the paper.

Some models may have a switch on the printer to switch from transfer roller or thermal. Make sure it is set for thermal.

Turn the printer on.

Load up you UPS software. If this is a first time installation and you are using software from UPS, you may have to tell it in the printer setup setting what printer you are using so that the form settings can be transferred to the printer.
