I have a problem with my webcam in that it won't work. I get a message saying "webcam currently in use with another program". I have no applications running at all and have restored all factory settings. I am running XP but got a similar error when using Android - the netbook cam with both OS loaded. HELP!!!!

My integral webcam for Lenovo laptop is not working. It gives a message " To turn off other programs in the background keeping the camera busy "

Usually you have a Webcam Software provided by HP, perhaps CyberLink, it will start at windows startup. I suggest using freeware CCLEANER: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ This freeware program has many useful tools, a cleaner, registry, to clean jnuk and free up HDD space. In the TOOLS section, select STARTUP, disable ALL unnecessary startup programs/processes, including webcam/cyberlink. You can also use Task Manager or Services. You may find it easier to use CCLEARNER.

The webcamera doesen't work in my laptop toshiba

What do you mean it does not work? Do you know how to start the webcam? Are you getting any messages that make you think it does not work?

Maybe the webcam driver is not installed. Look in the Device Manager and look for the webcam. Click Start/Control Panel and look for System or System and Performance. Look for the Device Manager (it might be under hardware). Open the device manger and look for Imaging Devices. Click the + next to imaging devices to expand and see the camera. if it is there the drive is installed. You can click on it to see if it says it is working properly.

You could download and reinstall the webcam driver.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Acer Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the webcam drivers.

Maybe your problem is you don't know where the program is that starts the webcam. It is located in the program list. Click Start/Programs and look for any reference to camera or webcam. It might be inside one of the manufacturer folders in the program list so search them. Some manufacturers have something like Entertainment Experience that launches all the entertainment devices when opened. if you see something similar to that, click it and it will show the webcam or camera icon.

You can always download Manycam and install it. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type: "download.cnet.com" (without the quotes). Click on the link to go to the site. When the site opens look down on the left and you will see a gray area that says Find Software. Type "Manycam" (without the quotes) in the white search area then hit the search mirror. When it brings back your results look for the one that says ManyCam Virtual Webcam. Down load it and install it. Make sure you remove the check box on any junky programs it would like to install. You only want to install ManyCam, no additions whatsoever during the install. ManyCam is totally FREE and easy to use, and you will always know where your webcam software is.

Using webcam on dell Laptop

Why won't it start? Do you know where the application program is that starts it?

Look in the program list for the application program that drives the webcam. Click Start/Programs and look for any reference to a webcam or camera. Also look inside the manufacturer folders in the program list, the camera might be inside one of them. Some manufactures put the camera in a folder or program that is called something like Entertainment Experience. Once you open it all the entertainment devices such as media player, webcam, etc. will appear as icons. Click the webcam or camera icon.

You can always download Manycam and install it. Go towww.google.com and in the search box type: "download.cnet.com"(without the quotes). Click on the link to go to the site. When thesite opens look down on the left and you will see a gray area that says FindSoftware. Type "Manycam" (without the quotes) in the whitesearch area then hit the search mirror. You only want to install ManyCam, no additionswhatsoever during the install. ManyCam is totally FREE and easy to use,and you will always know where your webcam software is.

Is my webcam working

Is your webcam working? I don't know, you tell me!! Can you see yourself?

Maybe you haven't started the webcam program. Look for it on your desktop or click Start/Programs and see if you see anything that refers to a Webcam. It might be under one of the Acer Program Folders so check them.

You can always download Manycam and install it. Go towww.google.com and in the search box type: "download.cnet.com"(without the quotes). Click on the link to go to the site. Hi,

Improve the Fixya.com experience for everyone by voting!

It happens periodically that our computer acts weird, won' print, won't properly load a driver, shuts down, restarts, or hibernates when we really don't want it to. I'm going to pass on to you a FREE and hard to believe program from Microsoft! I have no idea why this little program hasn't been advertised but then I don't own their stock.

Just click on the following link and your problem should be solved: Download Microsoft's Fixit

Be a hero and fix your friends' computers; just don't tell them how you did it! That will be our little secret.

All the best,

My MP470 worked perfectly yesterday and this morning it won't print. I send the command and it thinks for a minute and then it says "job stopped." I've tried rebooting everything and it...

This type of problem is often caused because recently installed software is incompatable with your current software. If you have installed any software since the printer last worked, try uninstalling this software first (this usually works).

If this does not solve the problem, or you have not installed any new software first run your antivirus/antispyware programs. Make sure that you disconnect your computer from the internet before running antivirus.

If you are still having problems, then preform a system restore. To do this on XP follow these steps:
  • Start
  • All Programs
  • Accessories
  • System Tools
  • System Restore

Hope these solutions help.

I came across your post, andrea_paul_, and it caught my interest! I need to ask you a couple of questions to better understand the situation in order to optimally help you. Do you have DISH Network service? If you do, what is the model number of the receiver? That can be found on the front panel in the bottom left corner. If it says 'DVR' next to that number, is the TV screen giving you an error message? If so, let me know what it is.

Try unplugging the camera with the pc off and switch to another usb port on your pc. Do not use a usb hub. If that does not work try booting into safe mode and see if it works then. If it works maybe another program or virus software is blocking it . Hope I was of some help, Thanks for using FixYa
