Are you still using alkaline batteries? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in a digital camera. Some may have reached their shelf life, and though brand new may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Retailers sell these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may slap yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

My Mustek MP76D portable dvd player seems to now have a short battery life after one and a half years of use. Does it need a new replacement battery ? Do you have one? What does it cost? Regards Gary...

Hello
The problem is of battery itself. Not with the player. Some batteries will last long and some won't. Chage the battery. It has no ampere holding capcity now. OK.

I use aa battery's in my camera but they only take 5 to 10 pics at a time.......is this normal or is something wrong like maybe a setting or something? what should i do to fix this?

Digital cameras in general use a lot of battery power; this one in particular is noted for short battery life. When it was new, this camera was supplied with a Lithium Ion battery for longer life; if you're using regular AAs, the battery life will be disappointing. Oh, and cheap batteries from the dollar store might not even work at all!

The most cost effective solution is probably high capacity NiMH rechargeable batteries; get a set of four so that you can have spares on hand. If even that isn't acceptable, look into getting the Lithium Ion one.

If you bought this camera used, the short battery life could easily be the reason the original owner got frustrated with it.

Battery life seems fairly short. How long should

Hi,
In most laptops the standard idle life is around 3 - 4 hours. The drain from the internet can cut this down to between 1 - 1 and a half hours. Using games is around the same or less than what the internet takes and if your using an office application it is around 3 - 4 hours.
Using the laptop for power hungry multitasking will reduce battery life dramatically.

Which batteries?

Here is your answer.....

Battery Life: Good battery life for a camera running from two AA cells. The Nikon Coolpix 4600 uses two AA batteries for power, but its lack of a standard external power terminal prevented me from conducting my standard power measurements. It does seem to have pretty good battery life, particularly if you run it from high-capacity rechargeable NiMH cells.

My battery life is so short on my new Kodak easyshare Z1485 IS. Which battery will give me the greatest number of shorts? Does greater megapixel use more battery?

The Z1485 requires 3.7 volts to operate properly. You will not get more than 3 volts with standard AA batteries, and worse yet with NiMH rechargeable batteries which only put out 2.4 volts. You should purchase KLIC-8000 Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries and the special charger.

Choosing batteries

Your camera requires four AA size batteries. There are several factors that contribute to battery life: NiMH: This is the best solution for enjoyment and cost savings. NiMH batteries typically last longer per charge than the average alkaline batteries. NiMH batteries are rechargeable batteries, so they can be used several times and thereby reduce the expense of continually purchasing new batteries. NiMH batteries are typically sold with a power adapter for charging. The life of these batteries can often be determined by the mAh rating, the higher the mAh rating on the battery, the longer that they will last. NiMH batteries do not have the memory effect associated with NiCd batteries, which means that these batteries can be recharged at any time and at your convenience (you do not have to wait for the batteries to completely drain between charges). Lithium: Energizer has introduced a new series of Lithium batteries that provide optimum performance and long life for disposable AA size batteries. Laboratory studies shows that Lithium batteries last more than three times as long as standard Alkaline batteries. This means many more hours of fun and satisfaction with your digital camera. These lithium batteries are not rechargeable, they are long lasting. Alkaline: Using the LCD display, downloading images, playback, zoom and flash all require some battery power to operate and may decrease the number of shots per set of batteries. Performance may also vary based on the Alkaline batteries selected. To significantly increase battery life, be sure to turn off the LCD when it is not in use. The LCD consumes the most amount of battery power. The benefit of being able to use alkaline batteries is that you can find then almost anywhere if needed. Manganese: If you are using manganese batteries, the typical battery life will be about 2 - 5 shots. Then the camera will indicate that battery power is low and may shut-down. To avoid this experience, use either Alkaline or NiMH batteries. Optimum Solution: Use a set of NiMH batteries for longer use and to reduce the expense of continually buying new batteries. It may also be a good idea to keep a spare set of NiMH batteries for other devices that require AA size batteries on a regular basis. Use AA Alkaline batteries when the NiMH batteries need to be recharged and you want to continue enjoying the use of your camera.

How can I increase battery life?

Transferring images from the camera to the computer requires a lot of battery power. It is recommended to use the AC adapter when transferring pictures to conserve battery life. If not using the AC adapter, make sure your batteries are fully charged and use the highest possible serial speed when connecting the camera to the computer. After transferring your images remember to shut off the camera, otherwise the camera will remain "awake" and will continue to wear down the batteries. The LCD display also uses much battery power and should be used sparingly when trying to conserve power usage. Battery life can be improved by using AA sized lithium batteries, rechargeable AA Ni-Cad batteries, or rechargeable AA Ni-MH batteries instead of AA sized alkaline batteries.
