You have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.
First make sure it is legal to record conversations via telephone in both your state and the other parties state. Now all you need is one of those old basic recorders with the big buttons out front. Go to Radio Shack and buy a cord that goes from the recorder to the telephone. May need a splitter. Press record and dial. That's it.
Once downloaded, I ran this to extract the files to my hard drive under c:\4300127.
Next I went to my Device Manager (My computer->Manage->Device Manager) and under Other Devices found my 43-127 recorder.
I right-clicked on this and selected properties. Then I clicked Update Driver.
I then selected "Browse my computer for driver software". I then selected the C:\43-127 directory and selected ok. I got a warning about not finding the publisher but I opted to install the driver software anyway.
One other thing I noted; When I start the recorder software I have to select "Run as administrator" otherwise the files aren't able to download to my hard drive. This may be just due to a security setting on my computer.
If you have the Digital Answerer in White with Extended Recording Time TAD-3808, then slide the Ring Select switch on the right side of the unit to the desired number of rings. TS = toll saver and answers after 2 rings if there are new messages; , otherwise, it will answer after 4 rings.
The best solution I found for recording a telephone conversation is a product I purchased at Radio Shack. But actually, I have replaced my Perlcorder with an HTC Hero cell phone, but any Android cell phone will do. There is an app called Ultimate Voice Recorder which is absolutely unbelievable both for its total clarity and automation. It makes ant other type of telephone recorder obsolete. With the app you get complete clarity, the call is saved to your SD card, and you can set the app to record every call, if you like.
What kind of device? You can get a decent digital recorder for $30-$100. Higher end digital recorders connect to computer and can save file and/or burn to CD. Radio Shack or similar stores have different type of devices for $15-$20 that help connect digital recorder and tape recorders in-line on your phone, and you can easily record and archive phne calls. Corded phone works best, but they have portable gadgets for cordless phones, too. Mobile phones require a fancier gadget, and might not be available at Radio Shack. You may have to do a Google search for that.
