In trying to understand your problem, I think you are mixing terminology.

    - Did you try to erase everything from your drive or is it not visible for some reason?

    - MS Windows 2007? There is no version so named; XP is what you later mentioned.

    - "configured to just allow excel and word" That doesn't compute; one doesn't 'configure to allow' - Do you mean you installed those?

    - "i have no applications installed" Excel and Word are applications.

    - "the memory is 50x.." This isn't how memory or drive space is expressed so we can't know what you mean.

If memory, it would be expressed as 'megabytes' or MB, if disk size, it would be in 'gigabytes' or GB.

If you can clarify those things, perhaps someone can help you.

Now going 'crackers' I understand very well - ;-)

Hello,

If the drive properties in show a full drive, then the install of xp probably has taken most or all of the hard drive space.

According to http://www.microsoft.com/middleeast/windows/windowsxp/home/evaluation/sysreqs.aspx
the operating system needs at least 1.5G.

Thanks

I accidentally reformat my removable hard disk, i need help on how to recover all lost data.

All your files are still stored on the removable hard drive. They're just invisible or inaccessible. You can recover them with data recovery software.

I used this one to recover files from my formatted external hard drive and it worked. Anyway, you can download it and scan your removeable hard drive for free to preview whether you can recover your data.
Hope this help!

How to Recover Deleted Files from Seagate Hard Drive in Windows XP?

Accidently delete important filesusing Shift+Delete keys in Windows XP? Can't get valued pictures back from therecycle bin after you emptied it? How to retrieve data from 'not recognized'hard drive and reconstruct inaccessible partition?

You'reLuck!Deleting or formatting won't make the data erased permanently.Thosedeleted data are still stored in the hard drive. They're just invisible orinaccessible.Only the FAT or NTFS table is erased (the information about wherethose data were saved), but the real data are still intact there in sectors ofthe hard drive.
So long as those deleted data are not overwritten by new data, it's highlypossible to recover them. The most effective way is to rely onsome data recovery program.

Tenorshare DataRecovery is a powerful data recovery program that can easily recover lost, damaged, formatted and accidently deleted data from your laptop or computerhard disk and all kinds of USB media drives. It can recover data afterdeeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data you accidentally deletedor formatted.
This program is equipped with four critical modules:"deleterecovery", "format recovery", "partition recovery" and"raw recovery". It can recover data after deeply scanning yourstorage device to look for lost data due to drives crash, virus corruptedpartitions, system sabotage, physical damage etc.
It supports for almost all Windows systems like Windows XP,Windows7,Vista,2000,2003,NT and common file systems (FAT12, FAT16,FAT32 and NTFS).You can get ithere: http://www.any-data-recovery.com/index.htm

It can RecoverLost Data Due to

Accidental deleting

» "Shift + Delete" without backup
» "Delete All" when deleting useless files
» Cut files instead of copying and pressing"Cancle" button
» Emptying Recycle Bin after delection
Formatting
» "Media/Drive is not formatted would you liketo format now?"
Virus infection/attack
Unexpected power off
Others
» Factory setting of device
»System reinstalling but want to retrieve the oldfiles
» Inaccessible partition or drive
» Dead hard drive
» Losing files during transferring files fromstorage device to PC/laptop
» Pulling out card while the camera is on
» Removing out storage devices not in "saferemove the drive"
» Turning off the camera during a write process

Then,howto retrieve deleted files?

Withinfour steps, you can get back your data:
1.Select deleted recovery. It will take you a few minutes to scan your storagedevice;
2. heck the deleted datayou want to recover;
3.Select a path folder for the recovered files;
4.Click "OK" to finish recovery.

Onemore tip:

If the hard drive can't be detected(means can't showup in 'My Computer' as a drive letter like C: drive),you can try this way.Putthe hard drive in a zip-lock bag and put it in the freezer for 2-3 hours. Thenwhile it's still cold plug it into the computer. If it fails, you will have to go to a recoveryoffice but let's hope not because it will cost you a lot of money and whetherthey can recover the data or not is not guarantee.

My computer will not power on, only a flashing green light on the back is on. I just bought a new computer and would like to transfer my files to my new computer. Why my old computer will not power on?...

Hi and welcome cj4man1 !
Extract the Hdd out of your old computer . Place it in a external usb box and connect the box to your new pc . You will be able to access and transfer your data .
The issue about your old computer is another matter an could have several reasons , such as power supply , damaged Hdd , defective memory , damaged motherboard ...etc ...
best regards ,

I get an error message about an unmountable boot volume..when I try to start in safe mode, it just starts back with the same error message....what do I do? Dell Dimension 8250 running XP.

hi,

When ur booting up to Win XP you may get a error that reads "Unmountable Boot Volume". This is probably because your boot.ini file is messed up.
So, what do you do about it, panic and try to mount your boot in your computer...... No that is probably not a good idea.
You can boot to the XP cd and when you see the Welcome to setup press the letter R
You will get a dos prompt
Then type "chkdsk /p" without the quotes and hit enter
When that is done type "fixboot" and hit enter
"Y" and enter at the prompt
Then type "exit" and hit enter
The system will now reboot into Windows
If for some reason that don't work for you, you can boot to the recovery console like above and...
Type "chkdsk /r" then enter
When done type "exit" and hit enter.
This will take longer, but the system should boot back into Windows.

Hard drive keeps crashin tried 2 differnt hard drives and they load windows works everythings normal then when you try to remove afre update anything upon restart you can never recover windows. ive sent it...

afre? It could be bios issue not recognizing the harddrive correctly therefore writing bad data to it and the data becomes corrupted and unreadable. Updating the bios could fix that...

Could be faulty memory, could be faulty cable plugging the harddrive into the controller. I personally just found a faulty SATA cable in my pc, its been replaced and no probs since.

Could be faulty power supply. I hope this was some help.

G'luck

I am running windows xp on my computer and i can't get windows mediaplayer to detect any of my dvd\cdrw so that I am able to burn cd's what should i do.

There are three way to burn in your system .
  1. The burn software comes under with windows xp it is easy to write or burn the data into the cd\dvd.put the empty cd into the cd drive place the data which you want to write right click and send to , cd drive . same process for all the data which you want to write not for excess the space of cd\dvd disc.
  2. The writing software are available for cd\dvd drive while you buy the drive . that named like a nero express , in that software you can write and erase the rewritable disc and gives the maximum speed to write for storing.
  3. you can download the microsoft windows mediaplayer from the web site microsoft.com for free.the new version are also available.
these are the intial steps to slove your prob please try it and inform me.

Compaq Deskpro EN contant restarting when attempting to load XP

Last time this happened to me, I had to reformat and reinstall windows. I tried all those modes, and I even tried the windows repair. None of that worked, I just did a complete new install. All of the data will be lost, if you do this.

My advice, if you need some of the data on that hard drive, you need to hook the drive up to another computer and backup what you need.

Or buy another hard drive, install windows on the new drive. Now slave the old and backup the data.
