I am having the same problem, although with mine I just went too long before charging it, I have tried the reset button but it does not work, just goes straight to Rebuilding Library.
And sir, it is a Creative Labs MP3 player, not an iPod, iPods are Apple products

When you dried it off with a drier did you have the unit completely appart at the time? It sounds like you might not have dried off all the water. If you don't get all the water out it will stay there for a long time causing problems, and after that you'll end up with corrosion at which point the unit becomes virtually garbage. Also, one other thing to remember is the danger of too much heat. If you applied too much heat with the drier it could have damaged the electronics. At this point I would take the unit appart and blow it out with some pressurised air, then stick a new battery in and do a hardware reset if it allows for it in the software menu. It might even have a tiny reset hole on the outside.
