- The main fuse protects the other fuses and relays from a bad surge. Like hooking up jumper cable backwards or something major like that where if that main fuse was not there you could do a lot of damage to things that would cost a lot and take a lot of time to repair.
- To replace this one I think it is two screw on the big 80Amp fuse inside the box and pull the bad fuse out and set a new one in it's place (either way is fine) and put the screws back in. That's it really. Nothing special to it. On GM's they use a couple big bolts to hold in the Main Fuse on the side of the Under The Hood Fuse Panel.
