I bought a out of the box 47 inch Visio LCD E470VLE. Comcast is the cable provider. The entire picture doesn't fit in the screen. I have tried everything in the menu. We miss the sports scores on the side & bottom of the tv, etc.

This is a problem with aspect ratio. You need to find the correct combination of settings between your Comcast menu settings and the television menu settings. I personally have Directv, but there should be something of the same effect in the Comcast menus. On the remote control that came with your cable box, press the menu button and navigate to the settings, and from there display or picture. There should be a setting relating to the aspect ratio, and the same applies for the built-in TV menus using your Visio remote. A typical widescreen LCD has a ratio of 16:9 or 16:10. I hope this helps in some way!

You might look for a format button on your remote. This will cycle through the different image formats available for that channel. Also you might try talking to Comcast to see if their remotes have this feature.

Which menu? The menu on the Vizio or Comcast? The Comcast HD box should have an option for you to choose output resolution, choose something like 720p or 1080i. Your Vizio TV (and I think mine does also, but I'm not watching TV of course) may have a Zoom feature; zoom back out if that's the case. Some TVs also have a feature to change the ratio, choose 16:9. Somewhere along this line should be your solution.

Press the hd zoom button with the # (tic tac toe) sign on the Comcast remote and it will resize your picture. Look for it near the lower part of the remote.

Thank you very much. By following your advice & changing the picture to stretch with the Vizio remote, it worked. I'm so happy!

Why does my Vizio E470VLE LCD TV have no picture but it does have sound?

you may have a backlight problem. To verify this, dim the lights in the room. Turn on the set and shine a bright flashlight on the screen. If you see a faint picture, you have a backlight fault.

We just bought a Visio LCD TV 42 inch. The problem is with the volume going up and down on its own. We took it back and got another Visio and it's doing the same thing. Do you think the problem is...

Hello there, the probability of 2 Vizio LCD's having the same problem is quite abnormal. The problem is definitely from the cable box as LCD TV's are usually factory tested to ensure that such problems dont exist in the unit. Check the cable box and also check the cables with which the cable decoder is connected to the TV. This is where your problem is from.

Visio LCD TV - Partial Picture blacked.

Hello! I have a 32" Vizio LCD...within 30 minutes of the tv being turned on, black lines start running through the bottom half of the screen and eventually blacking out the bottom half of the tv screen. It also doesn't have anything to do with the ratio as I have tried that. HELP!
