Question about Brother HL 5140 Laser Printer
THE PRINTER AT WORK IS PRINTING DARK BLACK LINES ON THE PAPER WHEN IT PRINTS. WE HAVE CHANGED THE TUMBLER AS WELL AS THE INK & STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. WE HAVE ALSO CLEANED OUT THE INSIDE BUT NOTHING HAS CHANGED. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT CAN BE CAUSING THIS & HOW TO FIX IT!! SOMETIMES THE WHOLE PAGE IS DARK...IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING!!!
Dark copies (whole pages) are usually a result of poor charge of the drum. Drum is that green thing (usually, seen blue ones too). You get text and graphics in places, where the drum has been discharged (light discharges drum). So if everything is dark - the drum is discharged fully, or not charged at all. Look for bent, dirty or missing connector plates, springs, paper covering contacts. If you get lines it could also be the fuser (hot thing) - needs replacing. Everything depends on how the copy looks like, I would have to see it. Hope this is helpful somehow ;-)
