ACER AL 1717 monitor. The on/off button is flashing green and orange, but the monitor is not turning on. I have checked all the connections. It blinks even if the connection from CPU is not given to it.

It sounds like you have a bad capacitor on your power circuit board located inside the monitor. If you take the cover off the monitor, you will see a circuit board where the power cord plugs in.On the board, look for 1 or 2 capacitors that are swollen or opening at their tops. They will usually be black in color with silver on top and round in shape. If you see any bad ones and have a solder iron and solder removal hardware, you can easily replace the capacitor(s) yourself, which you will find replacements at Radio shack or your nearest electronics repair shop.......good luck :)

Power Supply Issue - Green LED power up

tried to disconnected the 24v supply connectors going to the power inverter board which may the cause of voltage drop. after you disconnect then if still no output 24v dc coming from the power supply board the cause will be bad power supply board. check for an open resistance or bad regulators going to the 24vdc out. by the way you should connect all the connectors going to the main board to turn on the processor and the inv_on voltage going to the inverter board.

Screen Philips 17 inches LCD doesn't react. Power LED stays off.

Check the tv power supply board, that board where the power a/c cord plug into it.Most common problems on these power supply board are dying and leakages capacitors components parts.Check the power supply board carefully,if u have dying or leakages capacitors parts, these capacitors parts will bulges ups, will not have a flat cylinder heads like the rest of the other capacitors coponents parts.Replaces all these dying and leakages capacitors parts with the same Miro fared and the voltages little higher like 5 to 10 volts higher, the power supply board should not have this problem again.U have all equipments to do basic soldering works and u understand basic electronic wright? Then u should have no problems by replacing all of these dying and leakages capacitors parts that are bulges ups onto it cylinder heads on the power supply board. If u can't do this, tries websites like, to by a whole new refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

When I turn on my monitor it flashes on for a second then the screen goes black, why is it doing this?

its the problem of back light supporting inverter board.if its a LCD monitor then only its inverter board problem.but if its a normal monitor not lcd one then its the problem of power supply board.
you can get the inverter as well as power supply board at
or at local computer part store in your area.
the cost of power supply board is near to $65 and cost of inverter board is $35.

Monitor will not come on but power light comes on

Based on the numbers of viewsonics I have repaired, It is probably in the power - inverter board and not in the video board.
Since it is a 17 inch, there is also a chance that one of the bulbs is bad, but that is less likely.
If you can take it apart and send me a picture of the board to, I may be able to see if the board has the obvious problems.

Acer AL1912 19" LCD Monitor goes black after power up.

The problem with this monitor is a leaking capacitor on the power supply board. It is the middle one at the top in a row of three. The value is 10V 1000uf. Common problem for these.
Remove 4 screws from back of display. The case can be popped apart with a small flat putty knife at different points along the two seams. Three latches on each side and two at top and bottom. Push and twist at the latch points. There is a metal cover over the two boards. Power supply board to left. Screws and plugs can be romved. Unsolder Capacitor and replace. Radio Shack probably has them. Maybe a couple bucks. Be sure the power has been off for a while. These also have problems with the button board and corrosion at ribbon cable.

Dell 1800FP Dark, No Power but power supply seems fine. Help!

I just repaired 3 1800FP's - all dead, no lights.
Firstly a dead 2AS01 is 95% of the problem, because some fool designer left out the protective zener diode - cheapness.
Mouser Electronics does not have this part, but lists it at 37 cents in lots of 2500, and gettable at $2.66 somewhere else.
You must also replace the two small value electrolytics near this IC, as some had an ESR of 40 where <0.5 is where it should be.
I suppose as the electro's dry out, the spikes can zap the IC. The quacks on ebay flogging 2sa01's alone, probably hope to sell you another one down the track (at a fat markup).

There are 2 'Sam Young 2200uf' electros that really should be replaced, with ESR or 2-30 ! Ideally replace ALL electros, as the others will be off - but those 4 as a minimum and using a jewelers loupe, resolder other joints on the transformer and anything that looks more dull silverish, than the rest. A 1 inch used and worn paint scraper will get the case open easy.

DANGER, CAUTION : Finally when refitting the inverter board, ensure the steel tab is over the TOP middle of the board facing away from the power socket (SO YOU CAN SEE IT) . The board sides in flat. It is possible to scew the board down with a slight bend, with the tab pressing over the pcb tracks - very , very bad!

Now all I need is for some kind soul to improve the fix by stating what the value of the missing zener should be.

PS. Just because the caps are not bulging does not mean they should be OK. Most wrecked 10 year old power supplies have better ESR's, so the electronics must be hot under the cover.
I have seen bulging caps with a GOOD ESR, and non bulging ones with an ESR of 47.
