The only thing that will turn it on is the thermostat setting! Check your temperature setting for temp. in the centigrade or farenheit! Tank-you-very-much!

I have a King Pellet Stove 5510, I think the ignitor is out. It's going to be cold tonight and until I can get a new ignitor, can I start the pellets with something else.

If you have a hand held bottled type, propane torch, you could carefully try that. However, never ever use any type of liquid starter, like charcoal lighter fluid, kerosene, etc. All you want to do, is get a cup or so of pellets started burning hotly and let the auger take over feeding the fire from there.

Be extremely careful doing this.

Hope this helps you stay warm tonight.

Have a pellet stove that has been working perfect for years, then last night it shut itself off and when I opened door there was this black tar on everything inside and the windows were also black. I had...

Several of things come to mind: Have you changed the type (Brand) of pellets, recently?
Have you had your chimney (stack) cleaned in the past year? Is the fresh air intake functioning properly? Is the auger feeding to much or to little pellets?

Changing brand of pellets - Not all wood pellets are made the same. If you recently changed brands, you will need to tweak your stove to handle this new brand. This will affect how the auger feeds.

If you chimney (stack) hasn't been cleaned in the past 12 months, it may be partially clogged with creosote and not drawing properly and it is liquefying and running back down the chimney and not allowing for a clean burn. And could cause a chimney fire.

Fresh air intake: If that's not functioning properly, you're getting incomplete combustion. Which will cause the black tar looking substance you described. Couple that with changing brands of pellets and you have a problem.

The above are the first things that came to mind. I hope it steers you in the right direction to troubleshoot the problem. Please let me know.

We have an Envirofire pellet stove. The auger won't shut off and we can't control the the speed. We had to unplug it. Any thoughts?

You didn't mention which model Envirofire Pellet Stove you have, but generally they all have a heat overload switch, which stops the auger from feeding pellets if the stove gets to hot. They may be faulty. Or The Auger Timing Control Module may have failed. Depending on the age of the stove the gasket material around the door may need replacing. If it's not a tight fit, it's sucking air into the stove and causing it to run more than it should. Normally, I would say, "If all else fails, contact their Technical Service Dept." But, apparently they don't want the consumer contacting them, as there is no contact info on their website. Nor, is there any contact info on the manufacturer's website, Sherwood Industries. "Any technical service questions should be directed to your local dealer."

Hope this helped to get you headed in the right direction in solving the problem.

Pellet stove makes a popping, clicking sound

First, have you recently changed the brand of pellets from what you have normally used in the past?
Not all pellet manufacturers make their pellets the same way and you may have to re-tweak your stove to match the current brand you're using.

Are there clinkers in floor of the stove's firebox? If so, they will need to be removed.

Does the popping and clicking sound like metal stress when the stove heats up? This could cause a crack in the firebox.

Also, check your vent piping to make sure there are no obstructions in it. This could cause incomplete combustion of the pellets (clinkers) and over heating.

And finally, check the door gasket material. If its worn, it won't seal properly, it will allow air in and Carbon Monoxide out. Replace the door gasket

Hope this helps you solve the problem.

This looks like you are talking about a Pellet stove?
Somehow it was listed under Air Conditioner!

It sounds like the Pellet feed control motor is turning when it should NOT be-
Could the control board need replacing-

Just a thought-

Pellet stove augur starts and will start burning and then it back up pellets will not come out the augur will not spit out the pellets and they just get chared

auger may be jamming or motor is starting to go unplug unit and open back and oil auger motor and check operation- auger may not be sitting right in feeder tube also try a different pellet some pellets are bigger(sizes vary from company to company) which sometimes jam at feeder in hopper
