Question about Dishwashers

Whirlpool ADG993 Hi -Had several issues with the door similar to those posted, coming away at the hinge, not sitting flush so wont close. New issue - the latch has given way, it sounds like it works but the catch is not holding, the door then falls to the floor. Any suggestions for making the latch hold the door closed? - thanks..

Suspect door spring/assembly broken. How do I repair same?

If it's like my whirlpool, pull it out. Spring should be obvious. I doubt the hinge portion is broken. Spring may be. While it's out and springs tend to break, I would replace both. Several online appliance parts stores can help you with springs, my diagnostics and Hinge issue. They have been helpful to me.

FELL ONTO DISHWASHER DOOR AND NOW IT WONT CLOSE.HINGES MAY BE STRAINED.HOW DO I REPLACE HINGES

Hello friend, thank you for your post!

It sounds like it could be an issue with the hinges. I would recommend having a technician come out to your home to diagnose your appliance properly. I understand that someone fell into the door and the hinges are not closing but there could be another issue with the door. Hopefully this is helpful. -Matt

I have to open and close the door several times to reset the timer wheel for a new cycle. cycle light

The timer works like a clock if you like. The cycle starts at 12:00 finishes around 11:55. When you open the door, the timer advances to the 12:00 position resetting itself to the start of a new cycle. The door has to be open for about 12 seconds. Check on the left side door hinge bracket and see how it plays on the door switch. old doors on the SR24's had an issue of the hinge screw coming loose which triggered the switch too soon. You should be able to rest the door against the tank without the maching running. The switch should close as the door engages the latch.

Whirlpool Quiet Partner II clean light blinks 7 times

The clean light flashing 7 times is an error code indicating an issue with the wash temperature. If the control does not detect a 4*F temperature rise in the main wash cycle, it will display the fault as the clean light flashing 7 times. There are several things that could cause the water not to heat, including the water being too hot coming in, an open door switch, or a faulty component in the heater circuit. The most common cause is the door switch not closing properly. This can be due to a loading issue or a latch issue. If upon visual inspection of the heating element no obvious defects are found, I would recommend resetting the control and running another cycle, paying close attention to door closure. If the light begins flashing again, you likely have a component failure. The heat circuit consists of several components including the element, control, door switch and tub thermostat(s). Reset the control by pressing teh following buttons within 5 seconds.

Water leaks out of the front of the dishwasher between the top door panel and the small cover that sits under it. Is it an easy fix and cheap or should I get a new dishwasher?

Hi

The issue is with the water not draining as something might be blocking the drain pump assembly thus the water is leaking. To solve this issue you'll have to take the front lower access panel out and then clean the drain pump assembly completely, also clean the impeller and chopper assembly located at the bottom of the unit. After this is done the issue should be resolved, if not then check the float switch mechanism and make sure that is fine. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

My Whirlpool Quiet Partner II dishwasher (DU1055XTVS) will not cycle out of the wash cycle. I've tried running it on the normal wash and other modes with the same result. Is there a common problem with...

Either the contact on the door is not flush with the dishwasher, which makes a good connection between the door and the diswasher. Make sure if it is built into a cabinet the dishwasher is sitting straight inside the cabinet. If it is not straight this may cause it not to function properly and will cause the door not to make a good contact.

If that is not the issue replace the switch in the door. Or you may have an even more problematic issue: The timer controller in the door is bad.

My Maytag MDB9150AWS is no longer working due to what I believe is a electrical fire in the front control panel as there was smoke coming out of the top of the front panel. There were no flames but the...

My dishwasher (same make and model) had a similar problem except I did see some sparks coming out from th front on the side of it (on Thanksgiving Day no less - a lot of manual diswahing followed). What the problem ultimatly was is what I believe to be a factory defect. On the front door if you remove the inside panel to expose the wiring, I found where the door closes, the ruber coating on the bottom metal edge was worn away (from just years of opening and closing the door. There is a bunch of wires that run from the control panel to the power source and pump. Once the metal was exposed it comes in contact with these wires when the door is opened and closed and it was just a matter of time before they got shorted out. Fortunatly for me this happened while I was standing right there and was able to turn it off or this may have resulted in a fire. Also because of the quick shut off, none of the electronics or motors seemed to be affected. After respliceing the wires that were exposed, the dishwasher is working as normal. I plan to go back to Maytag to see if there is any complaints regarding this same issue.

Dishwasher ''soft drop door'' mechanism came apart - door now drops

I had a similar issue as described by mc1bean. One day my Jenair dishwasher door just fell down. The right side spring was fine. The left side spring was still hooked into the door hinge but the cable was laying on the floor in 2 pieces. Over time it wore down and broke. I ordered just the soft drop cable. Now I could not find any installation instructions how to install the soft drop cable. After a few tries I think I got it right. Here are the instructions for hooking up the right side spring with the cable. The spring has to be hooked into the door hinge at the notch closer to the door. The end of the cable with the hook has to be hooked into the other side of the spring. The cable should lead from the bottom around the pulley up to the door hinge again. Now the other end of the cable has to be hung into the door hinge on the notch further away from the door. There is some slack, but it is not quite enough for the cable to get over the pulley when in rest position and undo itself.
I hope this helps others who have the same issue.

Frigidaire fridge door makes a loud popping sound

You need to take the door off the hinges and remove the lower hinge plate from the bottom of the door. This is where I found my popping problem. The black bushing with the 3 bumps and dips on it is loose in the plate going into the door. I took black eletrical tape and rapped it around the part that goes into the plate to tighten the bushing up so it wouldn't turn anymore. ( This was a temp fix to see if the popping would go away) 3 Weeks later and still working. If the sound comes back I will put some double sided sticky back foam on it. Both doors were doing this on my fridge, and now its as quite as a mouse. I hope this fix works for you.

Door noise

Hello,

Common issue with this dishwasher. Easy fix though!! KitchenAid uses a nylon string that connects the hinges to the springs located along the bottom edges of the dishwasher. I had to pull mine out to perform this service. The nylon string seems to dry out and vibrates as the door opens and closes. All that needs to be done is put some Vaseline or other appropriate lubrication all over the nylon string. Especially where it passes through the roller and stationary guide. That will take care of any squeeking or grinding when opening or closing the door. Be careful as your door will now open just like it did when it was new. Now if I can only figure out how to keep my door from popping open during wash cycles!!!
