Just refer to your mainboard manual. If you don't have, the CMOs clear key is usually near the mainboard's battery. Besides, mainboards usually indicate in small print the different ports. You will need a magnifying lens to see them.

How do u get the video back after cmos reset

When you reset the CMOS, you would have reset the video adapter settings as well. If this is the case, you should be able to use the on-board video by using the VGA connection (the blue connection with 15 off-set holes for the pins) on the motherboard. You should get video, then you should be able to re-install the video card drivers to get it to work. This is, if you are using a separate video card.

Unable to log in

Which operating system ?
The Compaq Presario CMOS password is an administrative security measure built into the firmware of a Compaq computer.

This password is stored in the motherboard's BIOS (Basic Input Output System) and provides for hardware-level security.

This password may be accidentally set or forgotten over time and must be reset in order to boot the computing system.

Disconnect the Compaq computer from any electrical sources and remove the side access panel from its case.

This may require the removal of one or more thumbscrews on the rear of the computer case.

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL. http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules

Locate the CMOS battery.

This battery is a round button-type battery located in the bottom-right corner of the Compaq Presario motherboard.

Grip the battery by its edges and pull it straight away from the motherboard to remove it.

Press and hold the power button on the case for ten seconds to remove any remaining electrical current from the computer.

This removes the CMOS settings and returns it to the default state of having no password set.

Replace the CMOS battery.

Replace the computer's side access panel and re-establish any previously severed electrical connections.

How do I get into my Bios to check the USB keyboard/Legacy Bios setting? Compaq-Presario NY540AA-ABA CQ5120F

During boot up, the screen should show "press delete to enter set up" or a similar phrase. Have you tried that? If you don't get that screen you may be locked out at the BIOS level. You would have to reset/clear the CMOS memory on your motherboard. Search for how to do that on your particular board.

How do I reset my computer to factory settings? I have a compaq presario S6000CL

The easiest way is to reset everything in the BIOS setup to DEFAULT values.

The best way is to remove the CMOS backup battery on the motherboard for a few minutes and then re-insert it: this will wipe out all user BIOS setup in the CMOS memory.

I need to acess the BIOS on my PREsario s4020WM but i need a password to do it is old and was my parents so i cannot figure it out so i jut need the options of what the password would be or how to reset it

Disconnect the power. Remove or reset the jumper near the cmos battery. Connect and turn on your computer for a minute. Turn it off. Reset the jumper to it's original setting and you're done. Put everything back together and you're good to go. Good luck!

Hello i have a compaq presario 5000 when i turn

This is a compicated problem. First when it boots enter setup by pressing the F10. Once you are in set up reset all settings to default. Save changes and exit CMOS. If that does not help the situation have someone make you a boot disk, reenter setup and put the floppy as the first boot drive and then CDrom. Insert the boot disk, follow the instructions to boot. Once you are up and running try to roll back the computer to the last recovery point that worked. If that does not work you may need to see a local repair tech.
