My Amana window A/C his been running for several hours, it's extremely warm and humid outside and all of a sudden it beeped a couple of times about a half hour ago. Everything seems to be working fine now. Is there something I should do? Thank you Connie Bartley [email protected]

There are only two items that will shut it down after it is set to run. The bucket full which you took care of and low humidity in the area it is being operated in. Low humidity would not constitute a reason for returning it.

you didn't say what zone you're in but if you're north of southwest missouri you can forget about anything seeming warm below 30 degrees outside i tell all my customers to switch to emergency heat when temp's get below 25 for extended periods of time 2 days - weeks. either way you're at the mercy of the utility company on emergency heat you get hot heat and faster results heat pumps out of the box can only give you what they can generater from outside temperatures 35-55 they work great giving better than 3 to 1 but that falls off drastically when the temperature plunges

SOURCE: Amana AP125HD Portable Air Conditioner This

I dont have this one, but I searched for problems because I am thinking of buying one. Thanks for info above. This unit has a very high capacity, and a very high electrical load to match. Understandable that it needs full capacity 15 amp service.

Cant find dran for a.c

look along the firewall on the passenger side of the car maybe towards the middle a little bit,, you have to do this from under the car , and the drain hose is extremely hard to see under there, if you do locate it,, don't try and shoot air into the hose to remove a blockage, it will just compact the clog and make it nearly impossible to un block,, instead, you can use a wire coat hanger , ( tape the end with electrical tape so you don't puncture the hose, and move it up and down inside the tube,, there will be enough water in there to push the blockage out,, so be ready , its going to be wet fast!! work a little at a time going in farther each time,, you'll know when it clears

Odorless smoke coming out of my amana air conditioner is the problem odorless smoke coming out of my air conditioner wath is the problem?

That's a cool mist, like a fog. It's not smoke and occurs when the outside humidity is extremely high.
Be sure the air intake filter is clean and if it continues for a long time, raise the temperature setting of the AC a couple of degrees and allow it to run, until the mist clears. It harmless, so don't worry about it.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

If you are using this inside your home with central air running do you have to vent it to an outside window?

Yes, it must be vented to the outside, even if you're using central AC, too. The reason being is if you don't vent it to the outside, the hot air and humidity that normally goes thru the duct and out the window, will stay in the house and your Central AC will have to run longer and harder to overcome this rise in heat and humidity. In addition, the room that the portable AC is in, will get extremely hot & humid.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Have a whirlpool cabrio gas dryer. It takes several hours to dry one load of clothes. The clothes seem to stay damp towels may take all day... what could be the problem

Have you opened the door while its running to see if its warm inside (heater working) If its getting warm and still not drying the clothes properly you likley have a air circulation concern. With the unit running check the exhaust vent outside from dryer it should have a good flow of warm air, if not you have a restriction sowher between the unit and outside. Heat alone will take forever to dry clothing, you need good air circulation to remove the moisture from the clothes otherwise all you will end up with is warm moist clothing. This generaly happens over a long period of time and then all of a sudden you realize the dryer is not working like it use to..Hope this helps you with your concern.....

I have the Renewaire Energy Recovery ventilator system, Model EV130, installed in my house but do not know how to set it to the proper setting. The runtime numbers go from 10 to 100 and I am not sure what...

The RenewAire system is sized per ASHRAE 62-1999, residential air exchange of .35 air changes per hour, or 8 air changes per day. You can find an operation sheet for the PTL @ www.renewaire.com, downloads, residential, controls, PTL. A chart shows a starting point of ventilation based on the square footage x 8 foot ceiling height with a run time percentage for each model. For 2250 square feet with 8 foot ceilings, the run time for an EV130 is 85%, cycling hourly.

Actual run time will vary by tightness of house, number of occupants, lifestyle (number and frequency of pollutant generating activities). Outside weather conditions should have little effect on run time percentage. I run my system @ 50% year round, when the windows are shut.

The ERV tempers humidity and temperature extremes of the ventilation air year round. It is not a substitute for heating or A/C; it does not dehumidify the house in summer (it does reject some of the incoming summer humidity content, when the net humidity is greater outside than inside). It will lower humidity of the house in winter, or whenever the net humidity outside is lower than inside.

It will ventilate the house in an energy efficient manner all year long. Based on this information, choose a setting and manage the amount of run time to achieve your best IAQ.

Moisture

This may not be a humidity problem but a condensation problem. to cold outside too warm inside. humidifiers are tricky because they are to be set according to outside temperature, what you can do is try turning your dial up or down, let it be for a couple of days then try again until you get to a comfortable humidity level.
