Maybe it won't work because you have the inputs confused with the outputs.

Have you looked at the manual? There are procedures for adding a sub (which is NOT necessarily assumed to be there) and assigning bass to it.

Then there's the unidentified sub's manual and requirements to consider.

Sony str de 475 ?? is appear 'protect' on screenboard and can not listen anything

The message appears usually when the wiring is wrong (short circuit) or the speakers are defective or their impedance is too small for the amplifier's output (for instance 4 ohms speaker connected to an 16 ohms output). First, check your connections.

No sound from sub woofer

sub may be blown up, on protect, sub could be hooked up wrong. Did it work before and if so were all the wires hooked up the same? check to see if its being overloaded by blown speakers, check all speakers one by one, check your amp sub output with another speaker, I have had this problem form hooking up wrong.
Hope this helps...........

I am thinking of buying a SONY STR DE725 (QS Series) AV receiver. I alreay have a set of home theater speakers with 5 x 80W 4 ohm and and active Sub-woofer (200W). I am wandering whether the receiver...

Yes, it will support a powered subwoofer.

If your existing speakers are from an all-in-one Home Theater in a Box and they have molded connectors you'll have to chop them off to make the ends bare wire and determine which is plus and which is minus on each. Loads of 4 ohms may present a problem at high volume levels.

Take the rated wattage of the sub and other speakers in an HTIB with a HUGE grain of salt. They plays numbers games with th low impedance and the allowable distortion levels to get the results they publish.

For all anyone knows, the speakers and their original electronics may have been designed to operate together to yield adequate performance (like Bose does). Breaking that pairing may give unpredictable results and risk of damage to the speakers or the new receiver.

Check the fuse, Sony is known for its random problems with sound. The one I have you must tap it on the side. Its a flicker switch inside.

Connecting a Sony Subwoofer SA-W2500 to a STR DE 598

It is based on your sub-woofer type..whether powered or passive sub woofer..
Assume that you have powered one..RCA sub woofer jack is the best to feed it ..you should use RCA sub woofer output on your receiver as well..good luck

I need help my sony str dec 445 keep flasking the protect on the display

first check for any loose speaker wire in the back as this will cause the unit to go into protect mode if the bare speaker wire is touching, if thats not the case then there is a problem with the unit internaly and would be hard to tell whats wrong with it without looking at it.

DE 445 flashes "protect" and sound goes off when loud noises play on DVD

Check your speaker connections at the back of the receiver and at the speakers. You have a short. If you don't see anything obvious, disconnect your speakers at the receiver and play a dvd and turn up the volume. If it stays on, you have a wire or a speaker problem. If it cuts out , you have a DSP chip problem. Reconnect speakers one by one and test each speaker until it cuts off or you have fixed the problem. If you still have issues, post a comment and I can help you some more.
