This is either a driver error or a registery error.

i would suggest trying to reinstall the driver first before messing with the registery for some step by step solutions check :

Cd drive code 39

What the Code 39 Error Is
CD-ROM/DVD Drive Cannot Start. (Code 39)
Code 39 is an error specific to the device manager. It is directly associated to drivers and errors that have occurred within them. Drivers are the small pieces of software that your hardware devices use to function. Each hardware device has it's own unique driver, developed by the hardware manufacturer, that contains the instructions allowing the hardware device to cooperate with other hardware devices and communicate with the operating system. I'm trying to transfer video from my Swann DVR4-1000 to my laptop using a USB transfer cable. When I plug the cable in, the laptop doesn't seem to 'find' the DVR. What am I missing? Thanks...

Did the system come with a setup CD? If so, unplug the DVR from your system, insert and run the setup CD then plug in the DVR and it should recognized.

Blank screen, error code;0f00c.

The error you appear to be getting during diagnostics should not be related to the computer not starting. The error you are referencing has to do with a blank CD not being in the CD/DVD drive during that part of the test.
I ran the diagnostics again with a blank cd in the drive and I recieved error code 1000-0146.

Both Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-112 drives have Error 39

If I understand your problem correctly it sounds like you have two disk drives. D and E or something like that. try right clicking on your mouse on one of your drive letters, a pop up screen will appear, click properties, there should be a check box there to activate that drive, activate it. Good Luck.

How to fix code 39 err

I was fixing a computer the other day and ran across the following error in Device Manager on the CD-ROM drive.
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

Because of this error, the drive did not show up in My Computer and the customer was unable to burn CDs or read any CDs.

I uninstalled the drive from Device Manager, rebooted the computer, and the problem remained, so obviously it appeared to be a registry issue that I would have to solve. If you are receiving this Code 39 error and your CD or DVD drive is missing and has a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager, I hope this information is useful.

To solve this Code 39 error, follow these instructions:

NOTE: After removing these registry keys and rebooting, it may be necessary to reinstall any CD or DVD recording applications.

1) Close all open programs

2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter

3) Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
Class
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4) This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.
UpperFilters
LowerFilters
UpperFilters.bak
LowerFilters.bak
5) If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

6) After deleting the keys, close the Registry Editor

7) Reboot your computer

8) Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

Hi, the error code that you have is a known issue from Microsoft that needs a registry tweaks. Error code means "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (code 39)". You can click on this link for your reference http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461/en-us

To resolve this problem, remove the affected filter drivers. To do this, follow these steps:1. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
2. Locate, and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Caution There can be many instances of the registry subkey that is mentioned in step 2. You must make sure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey before modifying the UpperFilters and the LowerFilters values. To verify that you are in the appropriate registry subkey, make sure that the Default data value is DVD/CD-ROM and the Class data value is CDROM.
3. In the right pane, right-click UpperFilters, and then click Delete.
4. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the UpperFilters registry entry.
5. In the right pane, right-click LowerFilters, and then click Delete.
6. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the LowerFilters registry entry.
7. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.

This will surely help you resolve your issue. Good Luck!!!

Thanks
