i purchased my printer in usa but now live in spain and recently purchased new cartridges of the 363 variety, only to find they don't work, is there anyway i can change the regionalisation so that it excepts the 363 cartridges which are more avaliable here and which i have purchased and removed the packaginng from 2 full sets.

I bought my Photosmart C6180 printer in the US and brought it with me to Germany.

It uses the 02 cartridges in the US, but only the 363 cartridges are available here. It even states on the 363 packaging that they are for the C6180.

HP uses a regionalization scheme (scam) for their printer cartridges.

I emailed HP and a representative told me to call the hotline for instructions on how to regionalize my Photosmart C6180, so it's possible. The problem is that my printer is out of warranty so they want to charge me for the answer.

Actually you cannot use your # 363 ink on your photosmart c6180. The ink is not compatible with the printer. Photosmart c6180 only uses HP02 vivera inks. And there is no way that you can reconfigure it because it is factory default. Unless you bought an HP02 ink from other country outside US and bought the printer in US, that's the only time that we can reconfigure the regionalization of the printer

I bought an HP C6180 all in one wireless printer 18 months ago while I was living in the US. It uses HP 02 cartridges which can not be sourced in the UK.There is a simalar 363 cartridge HP 363 but it is...

Oh yes HP can regionalize the printer for you. You need to call the UK HP and speak to their tech people. There is a specific reset that can be done and once it's complete you are able to use the 363 cartridges.

0844 369 0369 is there number and they do not charge for support for regionalization calls even if printer is out of warranty.

I HAVE AN HP PHOTOSMART C6280 ALL-IN-ONE PRINTER BROUGHT OVER FROM THE U.S.A. 3 OF THE INK CARTRIDGES ARE EMPTY AND I HAVE REPLACED THEM, BUT NOT WITH HP INK. THE MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN IS SAYING THE INK...

Hi,
As the printer was bought in the US the printer is meant to use the #02 cartridges.

When you decided to replace the empty cartridges with refilled ones…the place you took them to be refilled more than likely decided to replace the little chip with a local flavour, which attempt to mimic original HP cartridges #363 (or what ever the number of those cartridges is where you are now). Hence now they are rejected by your printer.

But because the printer is only designed to use #02 cartridges it will reject every other cartridge/chip that do not have an #02 programmed into them….

You could try to call HP and explain them your situation and see if they can help you reset your printer to accept a different cartridge number …

Cheers.

Using 02 series cartridges in 363 configured printer

Hi,
You are correct those printers & cartridges are designed to work only in their original countries of origin…
For example if you bought the printer in Europe, it uses the #363 cartridges.. If you were to have bought the printer in the US it would use the #02.

You can contact HP and over the phone they can help you turn your printer from a #363 into a #02…ou might need to have a “story” ready ;)

Once the conversion is done, from that moment onwards, your printer will only take #02 carts...

Only HP can make that change...

Cheers,
Ed

HP Photo smart c6180 All-in-one wrong cartridge

Hi The 363 cartridges that came with the printer MUST be used before any cartridges you buy in the shop are installed. The cartridges that come in the printer box are called "host cartridges" their ink is different and is required to install the printer for the first time. Once the installation ink is used, you are free to install & use any cartridges you would normally buy in the shops.

If the cartridge that came with the printer is not working, contact HP technical support and they should send you a free replacement.
Cheers.
