From the sounds of what you are describing aol has advised you to restore your system. basically if you used recovery you may have formatted your drive so all data would be lost

When i press control f11 to restore my computer it does'nt respond do anybody have any other option for me?

Did this computer come with a recovery disc(s) or is F11 your only option for recovery?

If you didn't get a disc then you probably have a recovery partition on your hard drive. If this is the case there is a good chance your hard drive is failing or has failed. This would also wreck your recovery partition. Your best bet would be to replace the hard drive and order a recovery disc set from Dell. They cost anywhere from $15-40 and you can order them on their site or call them.

Format acer n214

Format? Format is for a hard drive, so what is it that you want to do? Are you trying to Format your hard drive so nothing is on it. Formatting a drive wipes out everything, the drive is completely empty until you put something on it.

Maybe you are talking about doing a System Restore which will set you computer back to a particular date and time before you started having problems. System Restore does not delete your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs (unless the program was install after the restore point date and time you selected). To get to System Restore Click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore and select a restore point (date and time before you started having problems).

Maybe you are talking about System Recovery. System Recovery sets your system back to when you first purchased it from the store. It deletes everything. All your data, documents, music, pictures, videos and any program you installed after you purchased it will be gone. Normally to get to System Recovery you will have to hit one of the F1 thru F12 keys repeatedly when you press the power button. Your manual will tell you the exact key to hit. Sometimes the Recovery will be listed on the program list. Click Start/Programs/ and look for System Recovery, it might be inside of one of the Acer Folders in the program list. Hopefully there is a Recovery Partition on your hard drive called Recovery. Click Start/My Computer and look to see if you see a Recovery drive listed. Sometimes the drive is hidden so you can't see it. If the drive is not present you will need a set of Recovery Disks you created or the manufacturer gave you.

Maybe you are talking about Reinstalling Windows. If you do a Clean or Complete Install it will format the drive and delete everything before installing windows. There are ways to do a Repair Install that will save all your data, documents, music, pictures, videos and programs. You will need an Operating System Disk to perform a windows installation. It has to be the exact operating system as that which is on your Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker on the computer somewhere. If it says Windows XP Professional you cannot use a Windows XP Home disk to do the install and vice versa.

Recovery disc for vista

Exactly what is the problem? Why would you want to to a recovery back to factory settings and lose all your documents, music, pictures, videos and programs you've loaded since you purchased the computer?
You could try using a system disc and try booting from it to fix your problem. Better yet you could try doing a system restore which preserves all your documents, music, pictures, videos and programs. If you can boot into safe mode try system restore. Again I would need to know what kind of error you're getting or why you want to do a recovery.

How do I restore my pc back to factory settingg

1) Turn on your computer. Right away there will be a black screen. You can restore factory settings without a CD, too. This will reset your BIOS.

  • 2) Press F1 when the black screen appears; you will enter the setup configuration mode. You will be presented with a menu.

  • 3) Select Restore Factory Defaults. Your computer will do all the work for you. As with the CD, this process may take several hours.

  • OR

As soon as your computer is turning on press the F10 key and it will take you to the system recovery screen, click on the advanced option and click Destructive recovery and click next. WARNING: before doing this backup anything on your computer you want to keep pictures, videos, music etc.. this will delete everything that did not come pre-loaded from the factory, so if you have pictures of Aunt Fae's Class reunion you should probably back those up if you wanna keep them.
To keep your PC fresh and optimize it to best performance use system utility software RegInOut

Lost Music files when reinstalled XP operating System

Start + Search + Pictures, Music or Videos + then put *.mp3 into the search box and go. This will list every mp3 on your drive at which point you can select all files listed and cut (ctrl+x) and paste them (ctrl+v) into a new folder on your desktop or wherever you choose to put them.

Want to recover deleted photo files on my computer

Have you saved anything new on this computer drive since then?
After deleting something off from a computer drive, the deleted files are not erased completely. But, they could be also overwritten by any new file on the same drive and gone forever. Therefore, I hope you've not overwritten them all yet!
As to data recovery software, in fact, there are many data recovery freeware online that could work much more efficiently than some paid ones. Why not to have a try?
Try to restore these deleted photos back from your computer with the help of a data recovery freeware:

In the future, I hope you could back up everything important all the time.
