Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Why can I not add a user to my account?

You can only change accounts to administer accounts from your ,main administer account. You cannot change a standard account to and administer account unless you do it from the main administer account.

Proline laptop

try this, it may help
Instructions
  • Go ahead and create a new user account, and make sure you give it a name like MAIN or ADMIN for administrative purposes.
  • Make the other account the administrator by going to: START, CONTROL PANEL, USER ACCOUNTS AND FAMILY SAFETY, USER ACCOUNTS. Then select to make it the administrator
  • Log off your user account, and go to the new administrator account, then delete the old account. After that you create another user name with the same name as the one you deleted so as to get a fresh start.
  • Install whatever programs were not allowed to be installed on the old administrator account because of error messages and other flaws that kept repeating themselves on the old user account. Voila! You have now bypassed the errors that keep you from having a Laptop with no errors on your software programs.

I want to remove a second id but keep my main id account

Go to Administrative Tools --> Computer Management. On the left hand side you should see Local Users and Groups. Click users. In the main it will list the local users for your computer. Just right click the user name and select delete. BTW, you cannot delete the user that you are signed in as. You will need to be signed in under a separate user than the one you wish to delete. Given that your description states that you are wanting to remove a secondary account then I don't see any of this being an issue.

I want to return to my original user name and cannot...have a new computer and it has been set up with a new user name...I want my original one.

YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH YOUR INTERNET PROVIDER AND PASSWORD,

YOU WILL NEED TO SET UP A SUB ACCOUNT, WHICH IS A SECONDARY ACCOUNT ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR MAIN INTERNET PROVIDER. EACH SUB-ACCOUNT HAS ITS OWN UNIQUE USER NAME AND PASSWORD.

GO TO TOOLS, UNDER ACCOUNTS, SET UP YOUR NEW EMAIL ACCOUNT, USER NAME AND PASSWORD

ARE YOU WANTING TO USE LIKE A YAHOO ACCOUNT? IF SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE TRANSFERED YOUR OLD ACCOUNT INFORMATION & CONTACTS FROM YOUR LAST EMAIL PROVIDER INTO YOUR NEW ACCOUNT...AFTER YOU SET UP YOUR NEW ACCOUNT INFORMATION...GO TO TRUESWITCH.COM TO TRANSFER ACCOUNT INFO, ETC,.

HOPE THIS HELPS!

User account problem

If you enter the administrative account and right click on start and choose explore, can you see the newly created user account in the list of accounts under documents & settings?
If not, then your new account has not been set up properly, and you will have to set it up again.
If you do see that account listed, but cannot access it from the log on screen, the simplest way to fix it is probably to delete that user account from the user accounts in control panel, and try setting up a new one.

My PC startup is fine then I get to logon screen. Each user account is different. I have WinXP SP3. I sometimes takes a little longer to hear logon sound, then pauses and finally the desktop comes up....

sounds like your computer is bogging down from to much bloatware. do a disk clean up. and uninstall any unnecessary programs. if this doesn't work you might have to take your computer in to have someone do an optimization on all accounts. that will fix your problem.
