Hi; I having error F61 on display. What problem it could be causing this message? Our building was bashed by storm recently. I have open the unit and replaced rectifier and IC STR F6668. It started to work with few dashes and after that F61 appeared. Thank you Regards Juraj

Re: Panasonic SA-HT 955 Home Theatre System
The F61 is the shorthand for protect mode. This indicates a problem with the output amplifier section. I don't have a listing for your specific model, but a similar one HT95 lists IC501 as the output amp chip. Check for the marking on the large black IC attached to the heatsink it may be RSN311W. If so, this can be ordered using part number: RSN311W64D-P for $95.20 from tritronicsinc.com.

Sorry to hear about your error code F61 This code refers to a High Limit Temp. condition. This is most likely caused by the cooling fan. If the Fan has stopped running or not running at full speed, you will recv. this error message and the temp. reaches high-end limit. Please check the cooling fan, any possible air flow restrictions and correct running RPM. Hope this information has helped you. Readers, please rate your technicians information. Had the same problem. Found that the code refers to the cooling fan. Could be that the fan is dusty or not running when the system starts up. I removed the fan with the two screws and reseated the plug. Make certain that the short, black wire (that seems to go to nothing) is securing the plug to the board.
The F61 indicates a problem detected in the output amp stage and the unit us shutdown to prevent further damage. If you can supply the model number, I can give you the part required and the approximate cost.
i had the same problem with the error code f61.There are 2 fans,1 external and 1 internal and were both working but were very clogged up with dust thus working harder.Try cleaning them both it worked for me on the SA-HT 990 model
